Century Chest Unveiling
Overholser Mansion |Oklahoma City, OK

On January 30, 2014, Preservation Oklahoma, Inc., hosted an event unveiling a piece of the history of the Overholser Mansion located in Heritage Hills. A package from the Century Chest, opened in April 2013 at the First Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City, left for the Overholser Mansion.

The package was a leather-bound notebook full of photographs, family history, newspaper clippings and a surprising discovery: a 99-year lease agreement on a very important piece of land that the Oklahoma Historical Society will be researching further.

Mayor Mick Cornett, OHS Executive Director Dr. Bob Blackburn, Preservation Oklahoma, Inc., Board President Barrett Williamson and Executive Director David Pettyjohn, Museum Coordinator Lisa Escalon and Jim Loftis were all in attendance.

The Overholser Mansion was completed in 1903 for Henry Overholser, a remarkable figure in early Oklahoma City. The mansion is operated by Preservation Oklahoma, Inc., a private nonprofit dedicated to preserving Oklahoma's historic places.
