OHS Annual Meeting

The 2013 OHS Annual Meeting is set for April 17, 18 and 19 at the Frisco Conference Center in Clinton, Oklahoma. The Friends of the Rt. 66 Museum is joining with the OHS to co-sponsor this event.

Events & Activities
Activities for members will begin Wednesday evening with a reception at the Rt. 66 Museum. Members will have the opportunity to enjoy the new exhibits, visit with other members, and meet members of the Friends of the Rt. 66 Museum and other Clinton-area leaders.
Thursday morning program sessions will feature a variety of interesting presentations. The Annual Membership Luncheon is at 12:15 p.m. The luncheon speaker will be Dr. David King Dunaway, who will speak on the social and cultural impact of Rt. 66. His presentation will feature excerpts of oral history interviews he conducted. Dunaway is the author of the book A Route 66 Companion and producer and host of the radio series Across the Tracks: A Route 66 Story.
A concert honoring Roger Miller and the music of Western Oklahoma will be held Thursday evening in the newly renovated auditorium of the Clinton Middle School. An art deco building built in the 1930s, the school will provide an historic setting while offering modern seating and new sound and lighting systems. Featured performers include Dean Miller and the band Slapout. Dean Miller is the son of Roger Miller, and is an outstanding entertainer who will perform some of his own songs as well as those of his father.
Friday morning will include program sessions. The Annual Awards luncheon begins at t 12:15 p.m. and will feature a variety of award presentations including inductions into the Oklahoma Historians Hall of Fame.

The Oklahoma Museum of Popular Culture (OKPOP) will host Bob Wills @ the OKPOP on April 10th at 7:30pm at the Oklahoma History Center. The event will feature musical entertainment by The Red Dirt Rangers and Byron Berline. Bob Wills biographer, Dr. Charles Townsend, will be on hand with a special OKPOP announcement. The evening's highlight will be At Home with Bob Wills, a conversation with Carolyn Wills, daughter of Bob Wills. The event is free and open to the public.

Doors open at 7pm and the program begins at 7:30pm.

Enriched: Animal Art from the OKC Zoo

Meet some of the Oklahoma City Zoo animals that painted artwork for Enriched! Exhibit. One animal will demonstrate its painting technique for the audience and the painting will go home with a lucky attendee. The event is limited to 40 guests and is first come, first serve.
