Murrell Home Hosts Christmas Open House

December 9, 2012, 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Murrell Home

Park Hill, Oklahoma

The historic Murrell Home at Park Hill will be hosting its 12th Annual Christmas Open House on Sunday, December 9, 2012, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.

Visitors are invited to tour the 1845 mansion and learn about Christmas customs from the mid-Victorian period. The halls will be decked in Christmas fashions of the 1800s, and live music will fill the air. The Friends of the Murrell Home will sponsor a reception with refreshments.

The Murrell Home Christmas Open House is free and open to the public, but donations are appreciated. The museum is located three miles south of Tahlequah at 19479 E. Murrell Home Rd. in Park Hill. The 1845 plantation home was the residence of George and Minerva (Ross) Murrell, and it is a National Historic Landmark. For more information on the Christmas Open House, contact the Murrell Home at 918-456-2751 or murrellhome@okhistory.org.

Give the Gift of Oklahoma History this Holiday Season

With the holidays and the season of gift giving approaching, please consider giving the gift of Oklahoma history to your friends and family this year.

Memberships are vitally important to the Oklahoma Historical Society as we strive to maintain the Oklahoma History Center and our 30 other properties statewide in a manner that will make all Oklahomans proud of their heritage. When you give a gift of membership you help us maintain a standard of quality that allows us to be both a Smithsonian Affiliate and a National Archives Affiliate.

Don't let this season of joy and giving pass without remembering the mission of the Oklahoma Historical Society. Your gift will help OHS collect, preserve, and share the history and culture of the state of Oklahoma and its people. Thank you for your generosity!

If your gift membership is received by December 31st, you may use it as a tax deduction. Please feel free to contact the OHS Membership Office at (405)522-5242 or 1(800)750-4090, if you have any questions about gift memberships or about your personal membership.

Oklahoma History Legacy Circle Created

The Oklahoma Historical Society has created the Oklahoma History Legacy Circle to recognize donors, both living and deceased, who have made contributions to one of the OHS's endowment funds. Because endowment donations provide perpetual income to the OHS, membership in the Legacy Circle also is perpetual.

A
minimum endowment contribution in the amount of $1,000.00 qualifies a donor to be a Legacy Circle member. Individuals who have already made a commitment in their wills or estate plans to support the endowment may be included by informing Paul Lambert (plambert@okhistory.org or 405-522-5217) or Shelly Crynes (scrynes@okhistory.org or 405-522-0317) of their commitment. Listed below is the Oklahoma History Legacy Circle membership as of October 31, 2012.
