The Oklahoma History Center will host President Franklin D. Roosevelt for a series of student programs and public performances November 1-2. President Roosevelt will make this special stop in Oklahoma as he campaigns for the 1944 presidential election. Topics include politics, life in the White House, the WPA and CCC in Oklahoma, and more! Don't miss the chance to meet President Roosevelt as he makes his way across the country on this last trip before the election! In addition, you can help the museum partner with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and fight hunger during the week. Admission to selected programs is free with a suggested donation of a canned good or non-perishable food item!
Here is the schedule for the Franklin Roosevelt programs:
Thursday November 1
1:00 p.m. Afternoon Matinee: no registration required. Seating is first come. Free admission with the suggested donation of a canned good or non-perishable food item.
7:00 p.m. Evening Performance, reservations required. The museum will open its doors at 6:00 PM with the program beginning at 7:00 PM. To reserve seats please call 405-522-0765. Free admission with the suggested donation of a canned good or non-perishable food item.
Friday November 2

Call to Arms

The Oklahoma History Center invites you and your family to load up and join us for our 5th annual Call to Arms on Saturday November 3rd. Join us as we celebrate Oklahoma's military heritage with a special living history event for all. Call to Arms is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. with activities running throughout the day. The event will feature reenactors and living history interpreters from a variety of time periods and includes activities for all ages. This year's featured guest will be President Roosevelt. Admission is free with the suggested donation of a canned good or non-perishable food item.
The Museums of Fort Sill, OK will be participating in Call to Arms with an
M16 Quad .50 Anti Aircraft Halftrack from WWII, a jeep and 75mm M1 pack howitzer from WWII, and an M1841 6 pdr muzzle loading cannon representing the Civil War era. The Air Defense Artillery Museum, Field Artillery Museum, and the Fort Sill National Historic Landmark and Museum will provide volunteers and staff to perform living history interpretation and education for the public on these artifacts through demonstrations at the Oklahoma History Center throughout the day.

Spooky Fun at the Pawnee Bill Ranch

On October 27, the Ranch will host Ghost Story tours through the mansion. The mansion is transformed into a spooky home completely illuminated by the eerie light of elaborately carved jack o lanterns. Storytellers will be stationed throughout the home and visitors will move from room to room to hear a variety of scary stories. Story tours are from 6:30 - 9:00 with a tour starting every 15 minutes.
