We're proud to be affiliated with the National Lumber & Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA), which gives us a connection to the industry at large and provides representation in Washington, D.C. on federal legislation and regulatory issues.
the last word
"I would suggest that it's not who we know that matters, but who we could know that matters - who we know that knows something that's a missing piece to a puzzle that we're trying to solve."

Innocent Sellers Fairness Act Reintroduced...On March 2, Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-TX) reintroduced the Innocent Sellers Fairness Act (H.R. 1199) that would reduce the instances where lumber dealers, and other retailers, are subject to unfair and unfounded product liability lawsuits. NLBMDA led the legislative effort to have the bill reintroduced. Original cosponsors of the legislation include Reps. Rick Crawford (R-AR), John "Jimmy" Duncan Jr. (R-TN), Trent Franks (R-AZ), Lynn Jenkins (R-KS), and Lamar Smith (R-TX). Dealers are encouraged to visit NLBMDA's Legislative Action Center, contact their representative, and ask them to become a cosponsor on H.R. 1199. NLBMDA is currently collecting your stories on lawsuit abuse in order to spotlight them for lawmakers.

What are the Requirements for Notice to Employees over 40?

Question: We have a current employee who has been with the company for eight years in a Director role. We are considering outsourcing the work he does along with all IT work. I know we can go ahead and lay him off due to these business decisions, and we would be putting together a separation agreement. My concern is that I read recently that anyone over the age of 40 is to be given the separation agreement at least 21 days in advance of the separation. True?
