Churchwide Christmas Caroling...

Sunday, December 14th from 3-5 pm ALL members of Milledge Avenue Baptist are invited to come and go Christmas Caroling. We will be traveling in groups, visiting church members in their homes, and singing Christmas Carols. This time will be one of fellowship and also thinking of others this Christmas season--a new family tradition to begin! Please make plans now to attend. Call Ginny with any questions.

Comfort and Joy: A Remembrance of Christmas Past...

The Decorations Team interpreted the Advent Theme Comfort and Joy with a Remembrance of Christmas Past. Starting with red velvet bows and lanterns, we chose the simplicity of pine boughs and evergreens, punctuated with lighted pew poles adorned with holly and ivy. Both the lanterns and pew candles reflect "the light that shines in darkness." Red poinsettias carry the theme also, reminding us of the legend of the Christmas poinsettia and loved ones honored and remembered. The Gathering Room tree, resplendent in red berries and poinsettia blossoms, is sprinkled with ornaments purchased more than 20 years ago. The children's "Jesse Tree" in the McBride Room celebrates the prophecy of the Messiah "out of the stem of Jesse," from the house and lineage of David.

Nativities placed throughout the church call our attention to the Peace, Pardon, Presence and Power of the risen Christ, born a babe in a lowly manger on that Holy Night.

We appreciate the efforts of our church staff, Manuel, Carrie, Ginny and Edward, in their many acts of inspiration and support, along with Bob Duncan's shepherding of the Advent wreath. From the group who gathered Thanksgiving week to put up the Chrismon tree to the groups gathering to Deck the Halls and the Jesse Tree, we thank you sincerely.

Decorations Team Members Jennifer Allen, Pat Britton, Wanda Culpepper, Sandra Heard, Carol Lester, Tommie Mullis, Becky Odom, Sue Rogers, Debbie Waters, and Joan Humphries dedicate our work to the Glory of God and our team member Emily Gunnells, who tied red velvet bows while attending Joel's bedside.

Helping Commission Baptist Serve Liberia...
