Take notice of the table on the right side of the pulpit this Sunday!

As we have been traveling through Exodus on Sunday mornings, the children have been using the story table on the right side of the pulpit to recreate the story with different objects.  So far, we have learned that Egypt is a place of good dark soil with water running through it, and that Moses was placed in a basket in the Nile river where the Pharaoh's daughter found him and named him Moses for "drawn from the water."  We also learned about Moses being a shepherd when he grew up and seeing a bush burn, but not turn to ash.  God spoke to Moses from that burning bush and told Moses that God is "THE I AM."  We have also discussed the Seder plate and how each spot on it represented part of the Exodus story--from the parsley and bitter herbs to show the lushness of where they had been but the hardship of their situation to the egg that stands for rebirth and renewal.  Last week we added a representation of the Israelites crossing the Red Sea on dry ground. What an experience that must have been to travel through those waves with all that you could carry and your family and friends! We look forward to seeing what we add this week and to remembering where we have journeyed thus far!
Deacon Nominations!

We're holding Deacon nominations. Please fill out a nomination form and turn place it in the ballot boxes located on the Information Desks. Forms will be collected through this Sunday.
Communion Sunday, September 21st!

Planet 56 and Inside Out meet TONIGHT! Come at 5 for supper, stay for games, and we will end with Bible study and activities. 5th and 6th graders will learn about the church year and the 7th-12th graders will have a Theology of Fishing expedition at Ginny's lake (don't forget your gear and bait!) Remember, the $100 ski trip deposit is due by October 1st. We will travel once again to Winterplace West Virginia from February 13-16th (president's day weekend). Total cost will be $250. Lodging, breakfast each day, ski rental and ski lift and/or tubing fees are included in this price. We need at least 6 youth to attend for the trip to "make." Missions@Milledge

The MABC Missions Committee, working with Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, continues to serve together as a "Community Partner in Education" with Clarke Middle School. Below are a few ways you can help...
1. School Uniforms: Our two congregations will maintain and stock the school's "Uniform" pantry. They currently have an abundance of pants, shorts and skirts. They urgently need: short-sleeved polo shirts, adult sizes small, large and extra large. Colors must be white, blue or navy. (Donna McEwan is our contact person for this)

2. Food2Kids: Our two congregations will make sure that every child at CMS is able to participate in the Food2Kids weekend food program. In August and September, we are collecting Peanut Butter.

3. School supplies: While everything is on sale-the school is requesting #2 pencils, notebook paper, and composition books (no spiral notebooks).

4. Prayers: Middle School is a wonderful time and where most of our children grow, mentally, physically, and emotionally. This means it can also be a challenging time for them and the faculty and staff who are trying to help guide them through it. Please keep them in your prayers.

*these items can be brought to the church office or placed in the boxes located in the vestibule and Gathering Room.
Women's Bible Study...

Sunday Night!

Began on September 7th! It isn't too late to join.

The study is on Jeremiah: Daring to Hope in an Unstable World, by Melissa Spoelstra. We meet in the Education Building at 5pm and will finish up at 6:30pm.

If you're interested in this study, please contact Mary Boswell to order a book or get more information.

Tuesday Morning!

Tuesday Morning Women's Bible Study begins September 30th and runs seven weeks, ending November 11th. Sessions begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m. The group meets in the Education Building, Room 221/223. Coffee and juice will be available.

We will be studying Priscilla Shirer's Gideon: Your Weakness, God's Strength. Class time will be divided between engaging DVD instructional segments of 40-50 mins. each, and discussion of daily Bible reading and review questions. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and deep bonds of fellowship and caring develop among participants as they grow spiritually in their study of God's Word. The final session features a summation of the study and a celebratory brunch.

Participants come from a variety of area churches in addition to MABC. If you're thinking of joining us, please invite a friend to come with you!

Member books are $15.00 and may be purchased at the Lifeway Store on Epps Bridge Crossing or online at Lifeway.com.

It isn't too late to register and attend. You can sign up online or call the church office.
