Take notice of the table on the right side of the pulpit this Sunday!

Over the next several weeks as the congregation in worship experiences the Exodus, the altar table at the front right of the sanctuary has been converted into a story center to aid the children in their journey. The table is covered in two different colors of burlap. The dark brown on the left stands for Egypt with water running through it. The lighter brown in the middle represents the barren wilderness through which the Israelites must travel. The dark brown on the far right is symbolic of the Promised land, the goal of their journey. Last week we added baby Moses in a basket as we talked about his mother and sister saving him from Pharaoh's decree. The princess found him and named him Moses which means, "drawn from the water." We hope everyone benefits from this visual timeline of the Exodus and story of Moses.
Guest Preacher for "Experienced" Adult Sunday

Sunday, September 7th, is "Experienced" Adult Sunday! Rev. David Hull will be our guest preacher.

Rev. Hull is a veteran Baptist pastor who stepped down in April after his wife became a pastor at Union Christian Church in Watkinsville. He has accepted a new role with a consulting firm devoted to improving the spiritual, emotional and organizational health of churches and ministers. The Center for Healthy Churches announced Aug. 27 that David Hull, former pastor of First Baptist Church in Huntsville, Ala., will serve as coordinator for the Center for Healthy Churches-Southeast. In his new role Hull will coordinate the services of area coaches and consultants with churches and clergy in Alabama, Georgia and Florida.

After church, we will have a celebration lunch. Please bring two side dishes or desserts to share.

Missions@Milledge

The MABC Missions Committee, working with Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, continues to serve together as a "Community Partner in Education" with Clarke Middle School. Below are a few ways you can help...
1. School Uniforms: Our two congregations will maintain and stock the school's "Uniform" pantry. They currently have an abundance of pants, shorts and skirts. They urgently need: short-sleeved polo shirts, adult sizes small, large and extra large. Colors must be white, blue or navy. (Donna McEwan is our contact person for this)

2. Food2Kids: Our two congregations will make sure that every child at CMS is able to participate in the Food2Kids weekend food program. In August and September, we are collecting Peanut Butter.

3. School supplies: While everything is on sale-the school is requesting #2 pencils, notebook paper, and composition books (no spiral notebooks).

4. Prayers: Middle School is a wonderful time and where most of our children grow, mentally, physically, and emotionally. This means it can also be a challenging time for them and the faculty and staff who are trying to help guide them through it. Please keep them in your prayers.

*these items can be brought to the church office or placed in the boxes located in the vestibule and Gathering Room.

Women's Bible Study...

Sunday Night!

Begins on September 7th! The study is on Jeremiah: Daring to Hope in an Unstable World, by Melissa Spoelstra. We meet in the Education Building at 5pm and will finish up at 6:30pm.

If you're interested in this study, please contact Mary Boswell to order a book or get more information.

Tuesday Morning!

Tuesday Morning Women's Bible Study begins September 30th and runs seven weeks, ending November 11th. Sessions begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m. The group meets in the Education Building, Room 221/223. Coffee and juice will be available.

We will be studying Priscilla Shirer's Gideon: Your Weakness, God's Strength. Class time will be divided between engaging DVD instructional segments of 40-50 mins. each, and discussion of daily Bible reading and review questions. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and deep bonds of fellowship and caring develop among participants as they grow spiritually in their study of God's Word. The final session features a summation of the study and a celebratory brunch.

Participants come from a variety of area churches in addition to MABC. If you're thinking of joining us, please invite a friend to come with you!

Member books are $15.00 and may be purchased at the Lifeway Store on Epps Bridge Crossing or online at Lifeway.com.

Choir Retreat...

September 5th from 6-9pm & September 6 from 9am-12:00pm in the MABC Choir Room.

We are holding this retreat to prepare for this year's Christmas Cantata. It is for anyone interested in singing in the Cantata even if you aren't a regular choir member.

Baby Shower

The church family is invited to a baby shower for Clement and Suganthy on Sunday, September 14th immediately after worship in the Gathering Room.  We will share cake and punch.  Please bring a gift for their son who is due the end of September.  Let's share the blessings with each other as we celebrate new life!
