Springtime in Oakboro   
 

As I was blowing pollen off our deck and deck furniture this past weekend (while I was wearing a mask), it occurred to me that all this allergy causing stuff was necessary for us to experience the beauty of spring.  The trees are "leaving out" and the flowers are "blooming". The "Big Show" provided by God himself is more beautiful than any man can provide.  It brings us great joy to be outdoors and enjoy this beauty.  I remember the song "June Is Bustin' Out All Over" from the Rogers and Hammerstein musical "Carousel". They were excited about Spring because of all the fresh life coming at them all at once.  

Here in Oakboro, we are also excited about our monthly "Cruise In and Car Show" too, which starts the fourth Friday evening of April and continues each fourth Friday through October.

This time of year is also special because we begin to see a surge of new business, which creates a lot of excitement in our company.  We anticipate this surge each year just like all of you anticipate Spring.  When this new business surges, I am grateful to all of you, our faithful customers and friends, who have confidence in Seven Oaks Doors and Hardware.  We are blessed to have the relationships we have with you and strive to meet your needs promptly and consistently.

Knowing that Easter was early this year, I hope you enjoyed spending time and celebrating with your family.

We installed a new hollow metal frame and a matching pair of prefinished birch doors with continuous hinges, new panic hardware and new closers. This was to secure an area and a hallway from regular traffic.  
Recipe     

Strawberry Cream Cheese Cobbler  
 
Ingredients:
  • 1 stick  (1/2 cup) butter
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 c milk
  • 1 c all purpose flour
  • 1 c sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 qt strawberries, whole, capped and washed
  • 4 oz cream cheese, cut into small pieces
Directions:
1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter and pour into a 9x13 inch glass baking dish. In a small bowl, mix together the egg, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Pour directly over the butter in the baking dish, but do not stir.
 
2.  Add the strawberries, arranging in a single layer as much as possible. Sprinkle cream cheese pieces over strawberries.

3.  Place in preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes or until top is golden brown and edges are bubbling (Crust rises up and around the fruit, but fruit will still peek out of top).

Oakboro District Park

 When Springtime arrives, Oakboro District Park comes alive with activity. The park is approximately 40 acres and includes a disc golf course, five shelters, three mini shelters, workout stations, horseshoe pits, a stocked pond (no fishing yet), and about a mile of walking trails. There is also a state of the art amphitheater, two lighted baseball/softball fields, a football/soccer field and a 1000' Nature Trail and Walking Trail Bridge.
