Easter  
 
Easter Sunday is slipping in on us a little early this year.  It occurs on March 27th and is established by the Lunar calendar.  Although I'm not sure why the Lunar calendar is the basis for Easter, I know it has always been a special time for many of our friends and family.  I remember when ladies would always dress up and wear all kind of colorful hats. Moms would buy or make new dresses and hats for the little girls.  Dads and sons would usually get a new shirt or tie for the special occasion. There was a song we sang when I was young "The Easter Parade", written by Irving Berlin in 1933, which has been around a long, long time.

Easter occurs at the beginning of Spring which is the same time we begin to see flowers pop out and grass return to green. The colors are so beautiful they just cause a "spring" in your step. More than all the dresses and colors we enjoy this time of year, let us never forget the real reason for Easter. For Christians, it is a celebration of Jesus' resurrection after his crucifixion and death. It was the original reason and is still the only reason we celebrate Easter. Enjoy this special holiday. Easter Recipe     

Muddy Buddy 
 
Ingredients:
  • 9 cups Chex Cereal
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup Wilton Yellow Candy Melts
  • 1 cup Wilton Pink Candy Melts
  • 1 cup Mini Chocolate Eggs

Directions:
  • Place 3 cups cereal in 3 separate medium sized bowls and set aside.
  • In a small microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on high for one minute and then stir until melted and smooth.
  • Pour peanut butter mixture over one of the bowls of cereal and stir until evenly coated.
  • Place the cereal mixture in a sealable food storage bag and add the powdered sugar.
  • Shake the bag until well coated, then spread the cereal out on a baking sheet and allow to cool for 15 minutes.
  • Melt the candy melts in separate bowls until smooth then pour over a bowl of cereal each and stir until evenly coated. Spread the cereal directly out onto separate baking sheets and allow to cool for 15 minutes.
  • In serving bowl, mix the three cereal mixtures along with the chocolate eggs.
  • Store the muddy buddies in an airtight container.
