Summer Fun

Summer fun means a lot of different things to a lot of people. I remember when my parents took me to the mountains of North Carolina when I was a young boy. This was the highlight of my summers. We would take the two lane road to Asheville and always stop in Chimney Rock. How many of you can remember the yellow signs all over North Carolina that said, "Visit Chimney Rock"? I always loved to get in the river at Chimney Rock and still do.

My wife and I visited Chimney Rock Park in June with one of our daughters and 3 grandchildren. We walked 499 steps to the top of the Chimney and back down because the elevator was out of commission. We then walked ¾ miles to Hickory Nut Falls. Later that day we ended up in the river at Chimney Rock.

Dad and Mom would then take us to Asheville for a while and then over to Cherokee, NC. Wow, that was fun. We had our pictures made with a bear and an Indian man in full headdress. These are some of my summer fun memories.

We have some pretty exciting summers here at Seven Oaks Doors and Hardware. It seems that many of our customers have a summer window in which we "MUST" get their jobs installed, especially in the school systems. We try to plan for it each year, but it still overwhelms us some times. I am not complaining! Keep those orders coming. We have several families represented here who depend on those orders for their livelihood.

As I have told many of you before, we do not take you, our valued customers, for granted. We are grateful for your continued patronage with us. We will continue to make every effort possible to make your projects and jobs happen when you need them.

I appreciate you!

Ed Shimpock, AHC, VP and General Manager

After

We designed and installed a custom made hollow metal security wall frame with FRP doors to control visitor traffic. The purpose is to keep non-authorized visitors from proceeding into the school hallways without checking with the main office. In addition, we installed an electronic locking exit device trim for card access from the outside and exit devices on the inside for free egress.

How Much Exercise Do Men and Women Need?

Are men and women the same with the amount and intensity of exercise they need? It turns out that the answer is no. A 2009 study published in Neurology found that men need vigorous exercise to reduce their risk of stroke. This level of exercise helps the man recover from a stroke better and faster as well.

A 2013 study found for women that walking at least three hours per week reduced their stroke risk better than high intensity cardio.

So, for men, get moving and for women, take a walk!
