April Showers Bring May Flowers
|
I'm sure you have heard the saying, "April showers bring May flowers?" That is because April is known for being very rainy. We have definitely had the rain this year. May is known for being the first warm month of the year when flowers begin blooming. People can feel better on rainy April days when they think of the warm weather and pretty flowers that are right around the corner. Many of you enjoy planting and watching flowers grow so beautifully in your own gardens. My wife enjoys Pansies. Of course we have to plant them in the Fall to enjoy them in the Spring. My old back, knees and muscles get a pretty hard work out when we plant them, but the beauty of them is something we always look forward to.
Likewise, we at Seven Oaks Doors and Hardware have to put in the time and dedication to our business to see the beauty of our relationships. I love to see relationships with our customers bloom and flourish all year round. But there is something special about Springtime that just revitalizes us all. I want to thank each of you, our customers and friends, for allowing us to "dig in" with you to help you with your special projects. We cherish the opportunity to plant and till and allow our relationships to "bloom".
I appreciate you!

- Perennial = comes up every year
- Annual = needs to be planted again every year
- Put plant food or compost in the hole with your seed or seedling to help the plant or seed to establish itself.
- You really don't need an enormous space to yield a good amount of plants, flowers, veggies or herbs. Many interesting gardens can be grown in a variety of containers.
- You don't have to plant flowers in rows, intertwining patterns look very nice.
- In most locations, dark green leafy veggies will continue to grow until there's a frost.
- If you live near a horse farm, ask them if they have any horse manure compost to spare. This also makes great fertilizer!
- Putting leftover, wet coffee grounds around your veggies in the garden is a natural way to keep slugs and other garden "pests" out.
