Will "YOU" make a difference in 2015?
|
 | | Seven Oaks employees enjoying company Christmas party |
Have you ever been asked this question before? Have you ever wondered what you can do to make a difference? Many people just "ride the wave "and never step out of their comfort zone. John Maxwell said "The true measure of Leadership is influence - Nothing more - Nothing less". This simply means that you can lead from any position you have by influencing others. He also said "Leadership Develops Daily, Not in a Day". If you will develop your leadership skills and maintain a positive attitude in all your responsibilities, (home, job, community, etc...) you will make a difference. People all around you will notice (You won't have to carry a sign!).
Here at Seven Oaks Doors and Hardware, we always make an effort to "Make a Difference". We so value our clients, customers and friends that we want to serve you to the max! Arthur Ashe once said "True heroism is remarkably sober, very un-dramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever the cost". Let us continue to serve you in 2015. We want to make a difference. We believe that if we help you get what you want, we will get what we want, so 2015 will be a great year for all of us!
I appreciate you! Ed Shimpock, AHC, VP and General Manager

Memorial Baptist Church Norwood, NC
Before
After
At Memorial Baptist Church we upgraded the exit to meet current codes. We removed the old wooden frame and doors which swung into the building. We replaced them with new hollow metal doors and frame along with metal 9-lite vision kits and tempered glass. The hardware was updated with new heavy duty exit devices and door closers allowing the doors to swing out of the building and making a safe exit possible as well as improving safety.

Did You Eat Black-Eye Peas for New Years?
|
According to Southern folklore, the first food to be eaten on New Year's Day should be black-eyed peas and greens for luck and prosperity throughout the year ahead. This tradition of eating black-eyed peas for the New Year has evolved over the years into a number of variations of the luck and prosperity theme including:
- Served with Greens (in the South) - The peas represent coins and the greens represent paper money, in some areas cabbage is used in place of greens.
- Served with Cornbread - The cornbread represents gold.
- Served with Tomatoes - The tomatoes represent health, the peas wealth.
- Served with Pork in some form - The pork signifies moving forward in the New Year, as a pig only "roots" forward.
- One variation states, "For the best chance of luck every day in the year ahead, one must eat at least 365 black-eyed peas on New Year's Day. (Who is going to count these peas?)
The catch to all of these superstitious traditions is that the black-eyed peas are the essential element and eating only the greens, cabbage, tomatoes, etc. without the peas, for example, will not do the trick.
We hope you had a very Happy New Year's Day... and hope it included some black-eyed peas!
