Family Fun on the Fourth

Our little one stoplight town of Oakboro is an exciting place on the Fourth of July.  We line up on Main Street for a long parade of beauty queens, politicians, old cars, fire trucks, horses, wagons, tractors.....and the list goes on.  This is truly hometown Americana. Our folks celebrate this great holiday all week long with rides, live bands, and beauty contests, especially Miss Fire Queen, sponsored by all the county fire departments.  Firemen spray hoses on each other in the firemen's competition. It is definitely a gala celebration.  Through all the celebration we must remember that in 1776 the signers of the Declaration of Independence put their lives on the line to declare our Independence from Great Britain.  Our nation is 238 years old this July 4th.  We have much to be proud of and thankful for. Wave your flags proudly and high! Your patriotism is important to the future of our nation as others come against us. Stand proudly as an American and show your colors on the 4th!

We will be closed on the Fourth of July to celebrate and spend time with our families. I hope you will find the time to be thankful for the freedoms we enjoy because others took a stand many years before us. Thank a soldier!!! Let him or her know you appreciate what they did for us. Because someone believed we should be free and others fought for it over and over again, we are the Greatest Nation on Earth!!!

I Appreciate You!
