Why is "Happy" associated with the New Year?
|
Well for me, I'm happy because we get a chance to start over again and improve on what we did the year before. I happen to be a "driven" person and see opportunity before me at all times. (My wife says I am a project man.) That has to do with the success of Seven Oaks Doors & Hardware. Fortunately, my passion for going after the opportunities has been contagious among most of the folks at Seven Oaks Doors & Hardware. We love challenges, we love opportunities. Because of the challenges and opportunities presented to us in 2012, we have had a very good year. And yes, sometimes you have been our challenge and sometimes our opportunities. So if you will look closely, you will see I am happy and I am smiling because we are "Back at ya!" in 2013. It will be another banner year, because of the relations we have with you, our customers and friends. We are beginning our 24th year. "WOW" it seems like such a short time. Stick with us! We will continue to "Lead" this market with High Standards because you expect it and you deserve it!!!
Keep Smilin'!!! I Appreciate You!

Alarm Lock's Networx Products
Alarm Lock's Networx product line is a standalone battery operated lock that retrofits on to your existing doors in cylindrical lock, mortise lock, exit device trim and keypad models. It allows for mechanical and access functions at the door to be managed and programmed over your existing network from our software on a single computer. This includes keypad and/or access card functionality, time schedules, audit trails, and lock/battery status without ever having to go to the door. In addition, and most importantly, Networx gives you the ability to issue global commands (emergency lockdown and unlock) from either the software or from the lock itself, all at a fraction of the cost of traditional wired access control.

Did You Eat Black-Eyed Peas for New Years?
|
According to Southern folklore, the first food to be eaten on New Year's Day should be black-eyed peas and greens for luck and prosperity throughout the year ahead. This tradition of eating black-eyed peas for the New Year has evolved over the years into a number of variations of the luck and prosperity theme including: - Served with Greens (in the South) - The peas represent coins and the greens represent paper money, in some areas cabbage is used in place of greens.
- Served with Cornbread - The cornbread represents gold.
- Served with Tomatoes - The tomatoes represent health, the peas wealth.
- Served with Pork in some form - The pork signifies moving forward in the New Year, as a pig only "roots" forward.
- One variation states, "For the best chance of luck every day in the year ahead, one must eat at least 365 black-eyed peas on New Year's Day. (Who is going to count these peas?)
The catch to all of these superstitious traditions is that the black-eyed peas are the essential element and eating only the greens, cabbage, tomatoes, etc. without the peas, for example, will not do the trick. We hope you had a very Happy New Year's Day... and hope it included some black-eyed peas!
