White Christmas??? Not likely here!!!

When Irving Berlin wrote "White Christmas" in 1940, do you think he ever dreamed that Bing Crosby would sell over 50 million copies? The first public performance of the song was by Bing Crosby on his radio show, "The Kraft Music Hall" on Christmas Day, 1941. What an impact that song has made on so many Christmases since then.

What are the things that impact your life at Christmas? Is it the story of Jesus? Is it being with your family? Is it helping someone who may not have a Merry Christmas unless you step in to help them? Whatever impacts your life at Christmas, usually remains a memory that you hold on to. The next time you get together with friends or family, ask each person to share one of their most memorable events from Christmas past. You will be amazed at the warmth that fills the room from these stories.

Speaking of warmth, we at Seven Oaks Doors & Hardware are filled with warmth and joy because of you our customers and friends. Without you we could not do what we do. We appreciate you and will keep you in our Christmas memories. When we gather for our company Christmas dinner this year, we will pray and ask God's special blessings on you.

Because of Jesus, There is Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Trivia Contest

Extra, Extra...Read all about it!

Macy Preslar (Daughter of Rob and Becky Preslar) discusses with Santa what she wants for Christmas while at the Renaissance Festival.

Whew!  What a relief to learn this...

Ever walk into a room with some purpose in mind, only to completely forget what that purpose was? Turns out, doors themselves are to blame for these strange memory lapses. Psychologists at the University of Notre Dame have discovered that passing through a doorway triggers what's known as an event boundary in the mind, separating one set of thoughts and memories from the next. Your brain files away the thoughts you had in the previous room and prepares a blank slate for the new locale.

Thank goodness for studies like this. It's not our age, it's that darn door!

Last month's trivia question:

Where did the word "koozie" originate?

Answer:  The "koozie" also known as a coastie, cozy, coolie, coldy-holdy, beer hugger, and can cooler among other names, was coined as a trademark, according to Norwood Promotional Products which sells them.  It was originally a trademark of the Texas company, Radio Cap Corporation (RCC) who registered the trademark in 1980, but allowed it to lapse in 2001. Norwood bought RCC in 1989 and re-registered the trademark in 2004.
