Summertime Blues: Ice Cream Prices Could Spike
A vanilla shortage could raise the price of ice cream in the Carolinas just as the weather gets hot. Bad news for dessert lovers, ice cream prices could be spiking over the summer! A poor vanilla crop this year has created a shortage, according to the Huffington Post, and vanilla has already jumped from $25 per kilo to between $35 and $40 a kilo. And since vanilla is already the most expensive ingredient in ice cream that could mean producers will have to raise the price to keep up with increased production costs. The price of ice cream could rise up to 10 percent.
All this is bad news for those of us who count on the occasional treat from Dairy Queen or Baskin Robbins to help beat the heat during the summer. Will you cut back on ice cream if the price goes up? Or is it one of those luxuries that's too important to curtail?
We at Seven Oaks Doors and Hardware also have vacation and ice cream on our minds. Sometimes I wish we could just have a big ice cream social and have all our customers and friends come over, sit around and enjoy the sweet treat. Well, since we can't do that maybe we will see you at a local ice cream parlor. If I do, the ice cream is on me. Have an enjoyable Summertime Vacation.
I appreciate you! Ed Shimpock, AHC, VP, General Manager

Home Savings Bank in Albemarle, NC
Before
After At Home Savings Bank in Albemarle, NC we removed 10' high glass doors and replaced them with 7' glass doors. We installed a new 3' header above each door. The 10' doors swung in both directions. The new 7' doors swing out of the building rather than both directions. We also used "raised gear" hinges (what is a raised gear hinge) to hang the new doors in a recessed opening.

Our featured customer of the month is Jim Reuter. Jim is the Maintenance Director for Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools and has worked there for 15 years. He is married to Andrea and they have two children, Courtney and Christian. Jim's hobbies include photography and reading.
"The first Seven Oaks rep I met was Sue Loy in 1997. We walked through the school checking various doors in need of professional help. A short time later, we had new doors and new hardware. Seven Oaks was awarded the contract to install the Bright Blue Access Control system at our Nashville Elementary School. They ensured that the product was properly installed, fully functioning, and the right people were properly trained before turning over the final product. But more notable, they called back several times to make sure everything was working properly. Seven Oaks stands behind their products and installers. They truly care about their customers satisfaction."
