What My Dad Taught Me About Christmas

As a young boy, one of the first things my dad told me about his early Christmas was that he learned to be grateful.  He said that when he was a boy and would wake up on Christmas morning he would usually find an orange, an apple, and a few nuts in a bag his dad (Santa) had prepared for him and his four siblings.  He was very grateful.  He instilled this trait in me early in life.  My most memorable Christmas was when I was 16.  My dad surprised me with a set of "4 Bar, Lancer" hubcaps for my '53 Ford.  My mom surprised me with a transistor radio from JC Penney, which I still have.  Also, that was the same year we had the aluminum Christmas tree with the colored lights.  Although these were material things and I was truly grateful for them, I have always been most grateful for a loving family.  My mom and dad always loved me and my sisters.  I am so grateful to them for this.  So what are you grateful for?  Stop!! Take time to ask yourself this question right now, then tell someone how grateful you are for them.

As this year of 2011 closes, we at Seven Oaks Doors & Hardware want each of you to know how grateful we are to all of you, our customers, vendors, and friends.  Without you, this company would not be the success it is today.  Christmas time seems to bring thoughts of gratefulness out in many people.  By the way, the gratefulness my dad taught me is a major factor in my life and the operating of Seven Oaks Doors & Hardware.  I'm not sure he ever knew how much he influenced the life blood of this company through me, but I'm forever grateful.  You see this is my first Christmas without my dad.  His legacy of gratefulness lives on....

Merry Christmas!
I appreciate you!

Customer Spotlight
Our featured customer of the month is Mike Hartmann.  Mike is the facility manager for North Raleigh Christian Academy.  He and his wife Brenda have been married for 44 years and have 3 daughters and 4 granddaughters.  Mike's hobbies include watching basketball and softball and also playing an occasional game or two.

"My experience with door hardware has been bad in the past.  Our facility is nine years old and we have added buildings as recently as last year.  Multiple contractors have installed my new construction and they usually subcontract the installation.  I ended up with ill-fitted doors, cross threaded screws, closers that didn't work and many other problems too numerous to mention.  I have had Seven Oaks Doors & Hardware re-do my cafeteria doors (the most used doors in the school). They have replaced electronic lock designs to fix poorly designed hardware. They have worked on at least 10 sets of other doors over the last 5 years.  I'm presently getting a quote to add locks to some swinging doors into a kitchen to keep students out after school. I believe the "aftermarket" work is a different animal than new construction. You must use existing frames and doors and make it function properly and have it stand up in abusive situations. Seven Oaks Doors & Hardware has installers that are excellent. We have had no problems with any door work they have done."
