Why is it called "March Madness"?
|
The NCAA men's basketball tournament is also known as "March Madness". You may also hear other coined phrases such as, "Sweet Sixteen," "Final Four," and the "Big Dance." March Madness traces back to Illinois' statewide high school basketball tournament, which began in 1908. In 1939, an official with the Illinois High School Association, Henry V. Porter, penned an article called "March Madness" for the organization's in-house magazine. The phrase was confined to Illinois high school ball until 1982, when CBS broadcaster (and ex-Chicago Daily News Sportswriter) Brent Musburger used it during his network's NCAA tournament coverage.
Here at Seven Oaks Doors and Hardware, we love the popularity of basketball and this season of the year. However, our "Madness" goes a little farther when we think of the great customers and friends we have made over our 22 years in business. We are just "Mad" about making you happy and satisfying all your door and hardware needs. Remember to call us for your access control, doors and hardware. We promise we will not make you "Mad". We will make you "Happy"!
I appreciate you! Ed Shimpock, VP and General Manager

Customer Spotlight

Our featured customer of the month is Jonathan Nixon. Jonathan has been the Director of Maintenance, Construction, Custodial Services, and District Safety Coordinator at Perquimans County Schools for over four years. He and his wife Lee Ann, have two children, Jacob age 5, and Emma who is 8. He enjoys being a Volunteer Firefighter, Part-time EMS, and attending Bethel Baptist Church.
"I have purchased from Seven Oaks Doors and Hardware ever since I have been with Perquimans County School and many years prior to my tenure. The main reason we purchase from them is the price and quality of their service. Sue Loy and Robert Parrish have always been accessible and willing to take the time to find even the most minuet part. Robert competitively bids our large projects as well as the small ones."
"I would like to note that a Maintenance Director is only as good as his staff, and I am honored to serve our district along with a great team." Jonathan Nixon, Perquimans County Schools

The Hinge Tweaker
The Hinge Tweaker is therapy for your doors. To be more precise, the Standard Weight Hinge Tweaker is designed to adjust standard weight .134 gauge hinges. The Heavy Weight Hinge Tweaker™ is designed to adjust heavy weight .180 gauge hinges. Both the Standard Weight and Heavy Weight Hinge Tweaker™ will help you enable the door to operate correctly. In the door and hardware industry we would effectively call this adjusting technique, "closing the swedging of a hinge" or "closing the gap".
