Springtime
Springtime Flowers

Folks look forward to seeing the beautiful flowers blossom during May.  New leaves and colorful blossoms help us all enjoy a special time of year, "SPRING".  Spring is like a new beginning. Winter has taken its toll from the cold, fridged weather.  We can now start over to plant and enjoy "new life" in our "gardens".  All the folks at Seven Oaks Doors and Hardware are excited to see the "beautiful flowers" and warm days.  We relate this season and our daily business with you, our loyal and dedicated friends, as a time of refreshing.  New opportunities are "springing up" with many of you. We see many of your employees "blossoming" as they take on new and challenging responsibilities. We are "plowing" hard to create "new ground".  We are offering training classes throughout the state to make your ground "fertile". We have recently brought new products to "market". We have "planted" several "seed" projects with clients throughout North Carolina and South Carolina.  Our employees at Seven Oaks Doors and Hardware are anxious to help you "GROW" your project.  Please call us at 800-535-7972. We are ready and able to make your project a little easier.

This month includes Memorial Day. This special day is dedicated to remembering all the veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice, their lives, that we can enjoy the freedoms we have today.  We are blessed to have three armed forces veterans employed here at Seven Oaks Doors and Hardware.

Customer Spotlight
Ron Mack

Our featured customer of the month is Ron Mack. Ron has been the Director of Maintenance for Elkin City Schools for over 24 years.  He and his wife, Roxie have 2 children, Rupard and Rheannon. Ron's hobbies include wood working and gardening.

"I have purchased from Seven Oaks Doors and Hardware as long as they have been in business. I purchase from them because they have friendly sales people inside the office and out in the field. They also have a great installation crew. We have three schools in our system, therefore we don't purchase that much and I feel we are treated the same, if not better than if we purchased thousands of dollars each year.  Seven Oaks Doors and Hardware supports our Maintenance Association each year through district meetings and the conventions and workshops.  They won a bid on some toilet partitions several years ago which included installation. They made the job go as smoothly as possible without any problems.  I appreciate Seven Oaks Doors and Hardware for making my job a little easier."   ~ Ron Mack

Code Changes Impart New Restrictions on Fire Rated Glass For Doors

The International Building Code-2006 version eliminates the use of the traditional wired glass in hazardous locations (doors, sidelites, and windows near the floor).  Under the new code, the fire rated glass used in these locations must also be impact-safety rated to meet the CPSC 16CFR 1201 (Consumer Product Safety Commission/U.S. code of Federal Regulations, titles 16, part 1201/see CPSC testing impact video of SAFE-Wire here).  To meet the requirements of fire and safety-rated glazing, Seven Oaks Door and Hardware can offer products that satisfy the new codes.  SAFE-Wire, from Anemostat Products is a fire and CPSC 16 CFR 1201-Category II rated product.  It combines the fire ratings of traditional polished wired glass with a special non-flammable safety film applied to one side.  SAFE-Wire carries the same fire ratings as the "old-style" wire glass and is the most cost effective product that meets the new code.  Also available is the Firelite® family of ceramic products, when a wire-free, ordinary glass appearance is desired.  Firelite® NT or Plus both carry the Category II safety rating and can be fire rated for use in doors at up to 3 hours.  Firelite® NT has a surface-applied safety-film, while Firelite Plus® is a laminated product incorporating a safety interlayer between two pieces of Firelite®.

Both SAFE-Wire™ and Firelite® products are permanently etched with the appropriate labeling information, showing compliance with the new codes (IBC 2006 and NFPA 80 requires each piece of fire and safety rated glass to have a permanent label identifying the tested properties of the glass).  See examples of the labels here.
