9-11 Memorial Unveiling Ceremony

DATE: Wednesday, 11 September
TIME: 10 AM
LOCATION: AMC Museum

The $35,000 sculpture is being donated by the Eagle Firefighters Association, an organization that focuses on the morale and welfare of the Eagle Firefighters, and is constructed by Steve Miller, TDX services general contractor, along with Pippen's Mausoleum and Monuments. The memorial has been designed to represent all the locations that were attacked on 9/11.

Two steel beams from the World Trade Center, Tower One, as well as a rock from Shanksville, Pa., will be incorporated in the monument, which will be shaped like the Pentagon, representing the three locations that were effected on Sept. 11, 2001. The monument is made from various materials including concrete, cobblestone, marble and gold-leaf. The display features two benches made of black onyx on either side of the walkway; two memorials made of black onyx - one to commemorate the event and one to explain what visitors are seeing - on the back side of the concrete pad. In the middle, the pieces of steel are each attached to 3,000 pound granite stones, arranged in a V-shape pointing towards New York City.

Guest Speaker Chief Martin Nevil, manager of Urban Search and Rescue for the Dauphin County, Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, 436th Airlift Wing Vice Commander Col. Randy Huiss and members of the Eagle Fire Fighters Association will provide remarks at the ceremony.
