C-5 690014
Here it Comes!

FINALLY we can announce that our C-5 is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday 7 August. I know that is short notice but it was Friday afternoon before we had it confirmed. A special test flight crew that is still qualified to fly C-5s with the original legacy instrumentation will bring 9014 from Memphis Tennessee to Dover on Wednesday-barring any complications. The plane has not flown for several months awaiting retirement. We will be posting arrival times on our Facebook page and tweeting updates as we receive them. See the bottom of the page for those addresses.

Important note-the plane will not be coming to the museum immediately. Visitors can come to the museum to see it make several passes and land but the plane will be kept on the main base until its actual retirement date in October so we can defuel it and prepare it for you.

An announcement will be made as to the date of an opening ceremony scheduled for November as soon as details have been confirmed.

New Home

Our restoration team as moved into hangar 1304 which will provide an aircraft maintenance shop and storage for equipment and exhibit materials. We have been required to move several times over the past few years and having a dedicated facility, on campus, will make their tough job a bit easier. It will take a while to really get settled in but we've made a good start.
