Spring is a great time to visit the Boothbay Harbor Region!

Greetings,
Now that it is officially spring (according to the calendar, anyway), businesses throughout the peninsula are gearing up for opening day. We have been in contact with many shops, restaurants, and inns and hotels to find out when their opening day will be, and it won't be long now! The Chamber staff just got back from the Maine Governor's Conference on Tourism, which was held in Bangor, Maine this year. It was great to get a chance to connect with other people who share our passion for welcoming people to Maine and sharing all that our great state has to offer. We learned that over 70% of travelers are looking for a personalized, unique travel experience. We don't want to brag, but we think the Boothbay Harbor Region offers just that: stunning scenery, family owned inns and hotels, boat trips, arts and culture, lighthouses, lobsters, golf, botanical gardens, and so much more! Are you looking for a new approach to your vacation to the Boothbay Harbor Region? Consider coming in by ship as part of one of the many cruises that showcase the Maine coast. American Cruise Lines offer many trips that feature Boothbay Harbor on their itinerary, and our friendly Chamber volunteers greet the ships and welcome their passengers ashore. Whether you come by land or by sea, we hope your travel plans will include a visit to the Boothbay Harbor Region this spring!
Warm wishes,
Catherine Wygant Fossett
Executive Director

Literary Luncheon with John Ford
Friday, March 28, 2014 at 11:45 a.m., Boothbay Harbor Town Hall
Retired Maine Game Warden John Ford has seen it all. He's been shot at by desperate prison escapees, been outwitted by wily trappers, and has rescued scores of animals. As a tenacious and successful warden, he was always willing to spend the time needed to nab violators of the state's fish and game laws. At the same time, though, he wasn't a cold, heartless, go-by-the-book enforcer; he usually had a good quip ready when he slipped the handcuffs on a violator, and he wasn't above accepting a lesson learned as sufficient penalty for breaking the law. Ford is also a very gifted storyteller and he writes of his adventures in "Suddenly, the Cider Didn't Taste So Good", as well as his newest book "The Cider Still Tastes Funny", both collections of true tales, both humorous and serious. He is bringing along a special guest author as well: Mark Nickerson, author of "Blue Lights in the Night". Cost is $10 for the lunch. Please register by signing up and prepaying at the library's Meadow Mall location. For more information, call the library at 633-3112 or email Barb at barbh@bmpl.lib.me.us
