Greetings,
Now that Columbus Day has passed, things have definitely slowed down a bit here in the Boothbay Harbor Region. But, the weather has been spectacular, the leaves have been gorgeous, and it has been an absolutely incredible fall. People around here have really embraced the cooler weather by getting creative with their fall decorating, too. | | An East Boothbay resident has created a very artistic scarecrow! |
 | | Residents of East Boothbay get creative in creating a nautical scarecrow |
 | | Thank you Sam Kaler for growing and gifting this beautiful creation to our Region. A big thank you to Roy Benner from Hammond Lumber for delivering it to do our doorstep. Last but not least, thank you to Nancy McKinnon for painting our 300lb -- The Lorax-themed inspired pumpkin. |
With the change of seasons and change of pace, some of the seasonal businesses in town have closed their doors until Spring, though there are many that will remain open throughout the holidays and into the winter months. For a complete list of what is open and closed,
Our e-news will also be changing over to a winter schedule, so the next edition should arrive in mid-November.
The Boothbay Harbor Region is a beautiful place to visit no matter what the season, and there is a lot to look forward to in the upcoming months! Be sure to mark your calendars for the ever popular Early Bird Sale and Bed Races on Saturday, November 23rd and the Harbor Lights Festival on Saturday, December 7th.
No matter when you decide to visit, we hope that you will make a stop at our Chamber part of your visit to our corner of Maine.
Warm wishes,

The Boothbay Region Art Foundation is issuing a call out to all artists and creative people: Creativity, generosity and a sense of community are key ingredients for the Art In The Square Fundraiser/ Fine Art Exhibition and Sale. Now in it's third year, member artists and creative people from the entire community unite to create an exhibition of 12 x 12" paintings and even some 3-D artistic creations on canvas. These compositions encourage the artists to think outside the box and to develop an artistic work within the box- the one square foot canvas. Expect bold designs, soft landscapes, portraits, still lifes, collages...realistic, whimsical and the very unique. Oil, watercolor , acrylic, fabric, monoprints- the works encompass a wide range of exploration and media. It is quite beautiful and inspiring. This event also enriches our artistic community by encouraging and mentoring young artists through the Art Scholarship Fund as well as furthering art education for the community . We at the Boothbay Region Art Foundation (1 Townsend Avenue) are anticipating another wonderful ART IN THE SQUARE. The community is invited to view the show on weekends beginning November 29 and also to gather at the Reception on Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 4-6 pm. Call us at (207) 633-2703 to find out more."Art in the Square" Opens Friday November 29.

Paul Brady
Thursday, October 24, 2013, 7:30 p.m., The Opera House at Boothbay Harbor
Paul Brady, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is one of Ireland's most enduringly popular artists. His tours of the U.S. are infrequent and highly anticipated by his fans. In October, before heading out on tour with Bonnie Raitt, this Irish legend is touring solo and has included just one Maine stage in his schedule. On Thursday, October 24, Paul Brady comes to the historic Opera House in Boothbay Harbor. Born and raised in Strabane, Northern Ireland, on the border with the Irish Republic, he was into a wide variety of music from an early age. A fifties child, his first sounds the swing, jazz, show tunes of his parents generation. Then 50s rock 'n roll, 60s pop and Motown, blues, R n B and country and western. Through all this ran the potent flavor of Irish traditional music and song. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the show.

"Harrowing Harvest Folk" Exhibit by Diane Walden
October 2013, Visitor Center at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens
Diane Walden's small scarecrow sculptures will tickle your fancy while they send shivers up your spine. Walden, who lives in Thomaston and is on the Gardens' horticulture staff, says she constructs her one-of-a-kind "mini meanies," as she calls them, using "a wild array of botanicals, grasses, seedpods, shattered shells, straw, and woodie trimmings." The exhibit of nearly two dozen of these creepy creatures will be in the Education Center Lobby at the Gardens until Halloween.
Click Here for a complete schedule of fall events at the Gardens.
Registration is required for these events; call (207) 633-4333, ext. 101, or visit www.mainegardens.org. The Gardens is off Barters Island Road in Boothbay.
