                                                                                     March 19, 2013

Dear Valued Members,

The calendar says it's almost spring but winter still wants to hold on with lots of snow...  We're not deterred because we've had over 2,000 impressions on our region guide so far with the top five countries being the United States, Canada, Norway, United Kingdom and Italy. That's already half of who viewed it online all of last year!

Thanks to our members who are co-op advertising with us, we will be featured in a two thirds page ad with Yankee magazine for May and a full page ad in Downeast for May and June.   We also have over 10 pages of advertising with Maine Magazine setting up for June, July, August and September and the start to a presence in ME2.  There's still time to get in on the Maine Magazine and ME2 co-op buys so please check out our "Marketing Opportunities" to learn more.

As promised we've launched our award winning  travelMAINE Mobile App and each member is represented with a basic profile. We've also updated and launched our MC3 website www.mainesmidcoast.com with each member's profile.

We've scheduled eight Business After Hours starting March 27th at the Boothbay Register and on May 1, the Governor will be joining us at Studio 53 Fine Art for a "meet & greet". New for 2013, the Chamber is opening up the Business After Hours to members and non-members to encourage everyone from the business community to participate.  The event is complimentary to Chamber members and $10 per person for non-members.  Proceeds from these events will go towards a stipend for the Chamber's new Volunteer and Visitor Relations Internship for a college student.

Our Annual Awards Dinner is set for May 22nd starting at 6:00 pm with our presenting sponsor Fisherman's Wharf Inn, a proud member of the Lafayette Group.  We have many sponsorship opportunities to join in on this exciting event that recognizes the contributions of so many to our community.  Click here for more details.

We've got lots of great marketing and sponsorship opportunities and look forward to kicking off a fantastic season!

LifeFlight

LifeFlight's vision for Maine is a place in which every person, in every community, has access to critical care and medical transport when they need it. We do this by working with our EMS partners to transform the critical care transport medicine system into an integrated, high quality, patient-centered system worthy of the public's trust. LifeFlight's two helicopters, based in Bangor at Eastern Maine Medical Center and Lewiston at Central Maine Medical Center, cover the entire state of Maine and offshore islands. In inclement weather our crews can still bring their expertise and advanced medical equipment directly to the patient via ground ambulance.

The LifeFlight Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that provides fundraising and public relations support to LifeFlight of Maine. Supported by the generosity of the many friends of LifeFlight, the Foundation raises funds for aircraft, hospital helipads, statewide aviation improvements and the many training outreach programs offered by LifeFlight staff, including trauma and critical care, brain injury, ground safety, cardiac care and injury prevention programs at elementary schools.

INCENTIVES

·         $44-$90 per Fixture for Upgrading an Existing T12 fixture with New High Performance T8 Lamps and Ballasts.

·         $50 Screw- and Pin-Based LED Lamps

CASE STUDY: A Boothbay Harbor gift shop had twenty 75 W spot lights that operated 9 hours a day from May 15 until November.  The gift shop's lighting expense from just running these spot lights last season averaged $60 dollars a month.  Replacing all 20 of the 75 W spot light with 14 W LED narrow beam flood lights cost the business less than $100, after receiving $1,000 in incentives through the pilot program.  The businesses' lighting costs for the display lighting are now about $11 dollars a month, creating an 81% reduction in the associated lighting operating costs, plus a reduced cooling load as an additional benefit! Accolades for our website www.boothbayharbor.com

"My name is Kathy Wagaman and I am the Executive Director of the South Haven, Michigan Chamber of Commerce.  I was looking around on the internet for travel ideas in Maine and along the coast, and found your website.  I have never been to Boothbay or vicinity, but your website convinced me I need to put that on a short list of places I must visit.  That is one of the easiest websites to use, and it showcases your gorgeous area in such a special way.  I know how hard it is to get it working just the way you want it.  We seem to still be trying to get it right.

I love the water, boats, and all that goes with the nautical lifestyle, which is why I live and work in South Haven.  We are located in Southwest Michigan on the beautiful Lake Michigan.  There is so much to do here, and of course it is 2 hours from Chicago for those who need the big city.  Our summers are packed with planning all the special events, as I am sure yours is as well.  Again, having browsed your website, I am ready to pack my bags and head your way for a lovely Spring or Fall vacation.  Great job, and I want to wish you a great summer season!"
