Dear Valued Members,
Welcome home Ellie Logan, two-time Olympic gold medalist, to Boothbay Harbor! We thank everyone for the fun parade on Friday and thank you to all our Veterans for Veterans' Day.
With the changing of the clocks and our first dusting of snow, it's time to be festive! Early Bird is this weekend on November 17th and Harbor Lights is December 1st. We have lots of opportunities for you to participate including an exclusive radio promotion with just six sponsorships available for Harbor Lights, a window decorating contest for Early Bird and the Lighted Boat Parade!
A reminder for all, the deadline to be included in the Region Guide for calendar listings, ads and basic listings is December 1, 2012. The guide, both printed and online, is a valuable tool to bring visitors to our region and to get them to your place of business when they arrive. Don't miss out!

Sail Muscongus
Capt. Nate reports that they are currently in the process of repowering the Sarah Mead with an electric turbine motor. They obtained a grant through the state's "Clean Marine Diesel" program and were the only applicants to use state funding to go "zero emissions." This will make Sarah Mead Maine's (and possibly New England's) first "zero emissions" commercial vessel. The technology behind this thing is pretty cool, and the fact it's going to be sitting in a 200-year-old wooden sailing lobsterboat is even cooler. Once the project is complete they will have more news to share and ways to encourage other boaters to convert to electric.
Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library - Library Annual Appeal Fund
Tim McFadden writes: "It's been a fun and learning experience, since taking over as the Director of the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library in July. There has been a lot to learn about the Library and its operations, but more importantly it's been getting to know the people of the community, their interests, work, and family life, and what they hope for in their Library that has been most important to me. I've been very impressed by the level of affection the Boothbay peninsula holds for the BMPL. We are over two months into our Annual Fund Appeal, which accounts for almost 30% of our operating budget. As a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, we depend very much on the support of donations to keep us going. We hope that if you haven't yet given, you will consider a donation before the end of the year. Donations are fully tax deductible." Click here to learn more and click here for the latest events.

Boothbay Harbor Region goes BIG - Times Square Big...

Prior to Hurricane Sandy, the chamber had an opportunity to take advantage of a fantastic marketing opportunity (at no additional cost to members). Boothbay Harbor has been featured in a full page advertorial in the November 9th edition of Horizon Travel Magazine, which was inserted into 100,000 copies of The Wall Street Journal with a total readership of 230,000 affluent consumers.
An online banner ad will run concurrently with the printed magazine and both ads will be tracked by the chamber to measure results. In addition, the chamber has made the full color insert available to anyone who would like to market the region. Click here for a copy of the editorial page.
In addition, the Boothbay Harbor Region will be represented 240 times for in Times Square during Nov. 20 - 26th during Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade & the Black Friday Shopping Weekend on the screens! The 5 second ad featuring the harbor will run every hour on the ABC/Good Morning America Screen (Bubba Gumps is a great place to view the ad) and on the TSQ Screen in Times Square. Click here to see the movie that will be on the screen in Times Square.
