Go Skateboarding Day is June 21
Williams Farm Skate Park | 10 am - 5 pm | All ages event
Grab your board and head out to Williams Farm Skate Park on Saturday, June 21 to celebrate the official holiday of skateboarding.
From 10 am - 5 pm skaters of all ages can challenge their friends to games of S.K.A.T.E., Stack It, the Wall Ride Challenge and more for prizes and bragging rights.
The skate park will be open from 8 am - 9 pm for public skate. A free Skate Park Pass and helmet are required for entry.

Staycation with Parks & Rec!
As the kids finish up their final week of school, you're probably busy trying to plan some summer activities for the family. The good news is you don't have to bust your budget; we've got plenty of free and low-cost activities to make your summer memorable.

Kick off the Summer with a Movie in the Park
Friday, June 13 | 7 pm | Williams Farm Park | Presented by Checkered Flag Volkswagen
Send off the last day of school with a blast and head over to Williams Farm Park this Friday, June 13 for the first evening of our Summer Movie Night Series featuring "Toy Story."
Activities take place prior to the movie beginning at 7 pm, including a Toy Drive - bring a clean, gently used toy to be donated to Hope House Foundation and Hope Haven Children's Home. The first 250 kids to bring a toy donation will receive a brand new Disney-themed toy in exchange.
Movie begins at sunset. Be sure to check out local eats from Keep it Poppin' Kettle Corn and Filipino food truck, Bobby-Q! #MovieInThePark

* Due to space constraints, Kempsville, Seatack and Williams Farm Recreation Centers will not have Drop-In Child Care this summer.

Celebrate Independence Day at Mount Trashmore Park
Friday, July 4 | 4 - 10 pm | Fireworks 9:30 pm
Celebrate with your friends and family at our annual July 4th Celebration at Mount Trashmore Park! Fireworks begin at 9:30 pm. Admission is free; limited onsite parking is $5. Food and drinks available for purchase.
Main Stage Performances
4 - 6 pm | Local music band User Friendly kicks off the Independence Day celebration with their classic and modern rock covers plus heartfelt original songs.
8:15 - 9:30 pm | Local music sensation The Deloreans is a high energy, versatile '80s cover band that will get everyone on their feet, dancing to retro classics by '80s artists like The Go-Go's, Flock of Seagulls, Duran Duran, The Bangles, Huey Lewis & The News and so much more!
Children's Activities
4 - 8 pm | Free children's activities and games, including inflatables, will be provided by Awaken Church. Mason Lodge District 56 will be making child ID cards at no cost.
Fireworks!
9:30 pm | Zambelli, the "First Family of Fireworks" will amaze you with their spectacular fireworks show!

Take On the Summer Reading Challenge!
Win prizes including Parks & Rec Day Passes
Virginia Beach Public Library is encouraging readers of all ages to "Paws to Read" with their Summer Reading Challenge. Between June 16 and August 9 visit VBgov.com/SRC to register and track the books you and your family read.
Complete the challenge to win prizes; the more you read, the better your chances. Prizes for readers through age 10 include but are not limited to: - Parks & Rec day passes, VA Aquarium passes, Botanical Garden passes, MOCA family passes, art & craft supplies and new books Raffle prizes for readers age 10 - 18 include but are not limited to: - Surfboard, e-readers, movie & music bundles, and rock climbing & laser tag passes

Youth Football & Volleyball Registration
Saturday, July 5 and Saturday, July 12 | Sites & Times Vary
Organized athletics are offered through the City-Wide Athletic Office in conjunction with volunteer Recreation Associations for youth 10 years old through 18 years old and attending K-12 schools.
Youth football and volleyball registration will take place on the first two Saturdays in July: July 5 and 12. Sites and times will be posted two weeks prior to the start of registration on VBgov.com/sports.
Practice will begin in August and games begin in September. Recreation Associations will charge a player registration fee and the sports offered vary by area.

Please Note Our Upcoming Facility Closures All Virginia Beach Recreation Centers, Owl Creek Tennis Center and administrative offices will be closed on Friday, July 4. City parks will be open! Don't forget that your membership is good at all Virginia Beach Recreation Centers! If your usual center is closed for maintenance, take the opportunity to visit another center. Use this locator to help you find one!
