Time to Restring Your Racquet?
Tennis truth: elasticity and tension begin to decrease the moment they are installed on a racquet. Strings which have lost their tension cut down on the performance of a racquet and hamper your ability to generate power and pace.
The frequency of restringing depends on the player and the racquet. Here is a good rule of thumb for how often to restring:
Restring the racquet as many times in a year as you play in a week.
For example, if the racquet is used three times per week, it should be restrung three times per year. See the Pro Shop at Owl Creek for turn-around times on racquet repairs.

Pro Tip: Scouting During Singles Play
By Owl Creek Staff
During warm up, watch where your opponent places his serves and service returns. Most likely, these will be the same spots on the court during the match. Seeing this allows you to get to the ball quicker and plan your returns.

Beach Blast Returns to Owl Creek in April

As part of the Adapted Tennis initiative of Virginia Tennis, the Third Annual Wayne D. McCoy Beach Blast will be held on Saturday, April 26th at Owl Creek Tennis Center. The Beach Blast uses the "Unified" format, which pairs players with intellectual disabilities with tennis playing volunteers in a doubles round robin. The event is open to all Special Olympic athletes.
Last year featured 40 athletes and over 70 volunteers with participants not only from the Tidewater area, but from as far away as Arlington. In addition to full court match play, short court tennis and skills will also be part of the activities. The short court matches utilize the Special Olympic 42' court format with the red felt tennis ball, while the skills athletes demonstrate their proficiency with the basic tennis strokes.
Last year's sponsors included Virginia Tennis, Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation, The Virginia Beach Tennis Patrons, Virginia Tennis Foundation and Special Olympics of Virginia. For more information on the tournament, please contact info@virginiatennis.com.
