Come Out to SK8R Bash On Saturday!

Saturday, Oct 19 | 10 am - 5:30 pm | Williams Farm Skate Park

 

Check out the action as amateur skateboarders compete for top prizes at our 2013 SK8R Bash! This year's event will be held at the city's newest skate facility - Williams Farm Skate Park! 

 

SK8R Bash is free to attend and will include fun activities and an open street course for non-competitors. New this year, students from Virginia Wesleyan College will conduct tarp surfing sessions!

Want to compete at SK8R Bash? Competition includes beginner, intermediate and advanced heats in flow, street and bowl. Prizes are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each category. Competitor applications will be accepted as long as space allows. Registration cost is $30.

 

Check-in and day-of registration for those competing will begin at 8 am, competition starts at 9:45 am and runs until 5:30 pm on Saturday, October 19. With a brand new location, this event is sure to bring out some of the best local talent!

Enjoy Some Halloween Fun at Bayville Farms Park

Saturday, Oct 26 | 11 am - 1 pm | Bayville Farms Park  

 

The 3rd Annual Great Halloween Hunt will be held at Bayville Farms Park on Saturday, October 26 from 11 am to 1 pm. Intended for children ages 2-12, this event features a costume contest parade, face painting, crafts, a scavenger hunt and games, and finishes with the Great Halloween Hunt (trick-or-treating). Give the kids a chance to break out their Halloween costumes a few days early and join us for this free event! A Virginia Beach Recreation Center membership is not required. For more information, call (757) 460-7540. 

Boys and Girls Youth Basketball Registration

 

Youth Basketball Neighborhood Recreation Associations will hold youth basketball registration on Saturday, October 26 and Saturday, November 2. View specific locations and registration times

  • Recreation Associations charge a registration fee 
  • Online registration is encouraged where available 
  • Proof of age is required 
    • Leagues sponsored by Parks and Recreation are open to ages 10-18 (age as of Dec. 31, 2013) 
    • Most areas sponsor leagues for children under age 10 
  • Players must be a Virginia Beach resident and attend school (K-12) to be eligible. High school varsity and junior varsity basketball players are not eligible.

Celebrate With Us at Williams Farm!

Saturday, Oct 26 | 1 - 4 pm | Williams Farm Recreation Center 

 

It's been a year since we opened the doors to Williams Farm Recreation Center, and it's time to celebrate! Stop in between 1 and 4 pm, Saturday, October 26 and participate in free 20-minute fitness classes, weight room challenges, contests in the swimming pool, and special games and activities for kids. City and community agencies will also be on-site to provide information on community resources, including wellness checks. Admission to Williams Farm Recreation Center's One Year Anniversary Celebration is free so come out with the whole family!

Please Note Our Upcoming Facility Closures

Bow Creek Recreation Center is closed for a long-term modernization project

 

Princess Anne Recreation Center will be closed on Monday, October 21 through Sunday, October 27 for annual maintenance. The pool will remain closed through Sunday, November 3.

 

All Virginia Beach Recreation Centers and Owl Creek Tennis Center will be closed on November 11 for Veteran's Day.

 

Don't forget that your membership is good at all Virginia Beach Recreation Centers! If your usual center is closed for maintenance, take the opportunity to visit another center. Use this locator to help you find one!
