5 Reasons Not to Skip Breakfast

Cooking EggsFor many, skipping breakfast has become a very bad habit. Reasons why range from not feeling hungry to not waking up early enough. Some people actually think it's an effective way to shave off a few calories. The fact is there isn't a good reason to skip breakfast. To lead a healthy lifestyle, the day needs to begin with a good balance of carbs, proteins and healthy fats.

Here are five reasons why breakfast is so important:

  1. Numerous studies have shown that a healthy breakfast is directly linked to maintaining a healthy weight.
  2. People that eat breakfast tend to consume more vitamins, minerals and fiber in their diet.
  3. Your body needs a healthy meal in the morning to supply the get-up-and-go after a night's rest. That energy helps you feel alert and productive throughout your day.
  4. A balanced breakfast helps with the urge to snack or over-eat later in the day.
  5. Metabolism greatly improves when calories are consumed in the morning and spread out through the day as opposed to just lunch and dinner.

Check out next month's newsletter for healthy menu options for the morning time.
