Travel with Purpose... and more...

Travel News for August 2015
Hi All,

I can't believe it is the middle of August already!

In this issue, we look at increasing the chances of getting a lost digital camera back, travelling with purpose on a Fathom journey and Ashford Castle is once again ready to welcome guests...not to mention a few tidbits!

As always, grab a beverage, put your feet up and enjoy!
Have you ever lost your camera?

Here's a fun way to increase your chances ofgetting your digital camera back if you lose it!

"Most of us photographers have a few 'worst nightmare scenarios'. One of them is losing our cameras.

Andrew McDonald has a strategy just for you that will increase the chance of getting your camera back. He took the following series of images and leaves them on his camera so that anyone who finds it and scrolls through his pictures will see them."

I love this idea and I'm going to create my own set of photos.  I doubt they will be as creative and I can guarantee it won't include a bath tub but it will be fun to do!

Ireland's Ashford Castle once again open!
by Maryam Siddiqi, The Globe and Mail
"The completed restoration of Ireland's Ashford Castle is a masterwork in over the top. Dating back to 1228, the property was once home to the Guinness family and first opened as a hotel in 1939. Over the years, various owners made various changes, but in 2013 Red Carnation Hotels purchased the property and began restoring the stonework and integrating modern necessities such as WiFi and air conditioning into this ancient pile.

In April, the two-year-long, $75-million (U.S.) revamp, which also includes a 32-seat cinema, cigar terrace and billiards room, was revealed. What does refurbished Irish stately elegance look like?..."

Fathom - Travel with Purpose
a new Carnival Cruises brand
Every Fathom™ journey is based [a] sincere belief that the person-to-person connection is among the strongest catalysts for transformation.

As a Fathom™ traveler, you'll work alongside established impact partners with strong community connections in the northern Dominican Republic [and Cuba]. You'll work alongside the people of those communities, immersing yourself in their culture, harnessing the power of that human connection to make relevant, lasting contributions. And you'll come home seven days later knowing that, for the people whose lives you've just touched, the world has become a little brighter because of you.

Fathom™ journeys begin in April of 2016 and will give travellers the opportunity to truly give back in many ways; Environmental, Education or Economic Development.

Whether you are helping to produce and distribute clay water filters, planting trees, helping to improve English skills, or helping the local women's cooperative, your trip will make your next vacation meaningful in ways you can't yet imagine.

The video below will offer you some insight into what your Fathom journey could look like.
