Quotes to Ponder |
We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day.

Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.

Tax Change - Quebec Sales Tax
|
As of January 1, 2013, the QST will be calculated on the selling price not including GST. However, to ensure the total taxes payable remain the same, the QST rate will be increased to 9.975%. For additional information, review the details on the Revenu Quebec website.
If your Sage 100 system has been set up to calculate QST, you should
- remove the checkbox for Tax on Tax in the Sales Tax Code Maintenance screen for GST (make a note of the Tax Class to the right of the Tax on Tax field) (for example, let's say the tax class is TT)
- in the Sales Tax Code Maintenance screen for QST, delete the tax class (in the bottom portion of the screen) that you noted in the GST Sales Tax Code Maintenance screen (tax class TT in this example)
- in the Sales Tax Code Maintenance screen for QST, update the tax rate to be 9.975% for all tax classes that remain
Consult your accountant if you have questions about how this change will affect your business. If you need assistance updating the QST setup in your system, please submit a support case by clicking here and we'll get back to you.

Sage 100 2013 (or MAS 90 / 200 v5.0)
|
If your maintenance agreement with Sage is current, you should have received information from Sage about downloading the Sage 100 2013 software from the customer portal. Sage 100 2013 (also known as version 5) was made available near the end of December. We are recommending that our clients wait before upgrading to this version. The software has gone through extensive Beta testing; however, we always recommend that our customers wait a few months before upgrading to a new version We'll have more information in our February newsletter about the features in this latest software release from Sage.

Interesting Custom Office Projects
|
Each month, we get requests from our clients to add additional functionality to Sage 100. Solutions to these requests are most often done through the Custom Office module. Each month we will highlight a few of these requests. These solutions have improved accuracy and saved time for our clients.
-
Each time a new customer or vendor is added, can the tax schedule default to HST (this was done by creating a script)
-
Ensure that a customer orders a product in a case quantity (for example, we stock a product in each, but need to sell in multiples of 12 (12 per case)) (this was done by creating a script)
-
Show the lead time for each purchase order receipt on the Transactions tab of the Item Maintenance screen (lead time is the number of days between PO date and Receipt date) (this was done by creating a script)
- Change a Sales Order from order type Standard to order type Quote (this was done by creating a script)
Click here to let us know if you'd like to discuss any ideas you might have about how scripting or other Custom Office changes can help your business.
