Join Senior Researcher Dr. Jason Mancini to learn about Pequots in New London, the execution of a 12-year-old Pequot girl, and Indian mariners who traveled the waters of the world as you visit the docks, Customs House, Shaw Mansion, and Courthouse. $5 Museum members, $10 non-members. Battlefields of the Pequot War: Tour & Analysis
Members Only. Director of Research Dr. Kevin McBride leads a bus tour of the Mystic Battlefield, discussing scientific techniques used to identify the latest recovered artifacts. Afterward, enjoy a lunch of North Atlantic haddock chowder, baby field-greens salad, local sweet corn, roasted fingerling potatoes and onions, grilled flat-iron steaks, and herb-roasted chicken. $40 per person due at registration. Friends of Preservation Society: An Afternoon with Sarah Dove
Upper Level Museum Members Only: Join us for the second gathering of the MPMRC Friends of Preservation Society. Sarah Dove, private conservator of works of art on paper, gives a presentation about before-and-after successful treatments she has performed, followed by a discussion of important pieces from the MPMRC's archival collection. Light refreshments. Open to Museum members at the Contributing Level or higher, Friends of Preservation Society meets to support the care and conservation of irreplaceable treasures from our artifact and archives collections. Panelists Adrienne Keene (Cherokee), postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Indian Education, Arizona State University & Michael Taylor (Haudenosaunee), assistant professor of Anthropology and Native American Studies at Colgate University, discuss the issues. For ages 14 and older. $10 per person. $5 with student ID. Museum admission is not required.
