Here we go again, heading into a new year with must have features and of course, many more in the works.

Recent changes to wage and hour laws under FLSA and a myriad of methods for the calculation of overtime pay are made simple in Generations. Does your State have overtime rules that are more generous (to your workforce) than the Federal rule of 40+ hours per week? If so, compliance with the more generous calculation is required. Generations now has additional functionality for a number of overtime configurations. Read on to learn more.

The feedback on the mobile apps has been great and we couldn't be happier! In case you missed it, mobile apps are available for clients, caregivers and now the office staff. The apps are available for both IOS and Android platforms. Bring Generations wherever you go, and you'll have all you need in the palm of your hands whenever you need it.
 
To download Generations apps for IOS or Android search for "Generations Homecare System" in the app store. Based on user feedback, when downloading the app on an iPad, you'll want to change the store's filter to "show apps registered for iPhones" It's all there, and now you know how to find it! 
 
For those that use BlackBerry or Windows phones you'll want to use the mobile platform

Things you can do via the Generations Apps:

 
Office Users: create, modify or delete schedules, Care Clans, client and caregiver profiles, use the Caregiver Search, easily enter a new client data, snap a photo to personalize the information, use Call Center

Caregivers: view schedules, enter current and read prior Visit Notes, map to and from each assignment, view Care Plans

Clients or their family members: view schedules, receive email and text notification when caregiver checks in and out via Generations Telephony, view Care Plans

Today's update allows Generations users the ability to define overtime based on any number of hours per week and/or hours per day. Additionally you can also pay overtime based on the weighted average rate for all hours worked.

California customers will want to define overtime as over 45 hours in a work week and over 9 hours per day and also select the weighted average calculation under Company Settings.

To accommodate the new overtime calculations an update to Generations and the QuickBooks interface will be required. Users will be prompted to run the QB update at next use while the update to Generations Online will be applied automatically. Be sure to restart the application after you're run the update.
