Dear Parents:

In his December Head's Note, Mark Crotty shared information about our Imagine iPad program and the required device and program enrollment sessions scheduled for summer 2013. As we continue with program planning, we have many more details to share with you. Some are in answer to questions you've asked; others we think are important for you to know. This email includes four topics:

  • Registration for required device and program enrollment sessions
  • Imagine program FAQs
  • Registration for optional family support sessions
  • At-a-glance calendar for May through August 2013

Our preparations for the fall 1:1 iPad implementation are gaining momentum, and we're glad for this year of learning and planning. As we continue using the classroom sets of iPads, and as our Imagine committees solidify their bodies of work, we'll share the information with you via the 1:1 Update page on the St. John's website. Look for a permanent link to Imagine program information in next week's newsletter.

Required Enrollment Sessions (RES)

We will hold required device and program enrollment sessions for all families the weeks of June 3-7 and August 5-9. During the enrollment sessions, you will also receive information related to program policies and procedures. Each family is required to attend one RES session (either one hour for PK-2 or two hours for 3-8). Session attendance is limited; to attend on your preferred date, register for a required session now (links below). Select the appropriate RES for the grade your child will enter in the fall.

  • Pre-k through second grade parents attend a PK-2 RES without their children. No iPad required. Because the PK-2 RES sessions are not device-dependent, we encourage pre-k through second grade parents to attend a June session. Register for a PK-2 RES now
  • Third through eighth grade parents attend a 3-8 RES with their third through eighth grader. Each student must have an iPad, Apple ID and Apple ID password with him or her. Register for a 3-8 RES now
  • A family enrolling more than one child need only attend one RES; however, it must be the RES for the oldest child.

Imagine FAQs

We have compiled a substantial set of answers both to questions you have asked and to those you haven't. We hope you find the FAQs helpful. If you have a question about our Imagine program that we haven't answered, please send it to us.

Read the FAQs.

Family Support

We have planned optional family support sessions for late spring and summer. All are described in detail in the Family Support category of the FAQs.

  • Got Box? -- You bought an iPad for your St. John's student, but it's still in the box and you need help setting it up before attending the RES. Attend a Got Box? session so you'll be ready for the RES. Register for a Got Box? session now.
  • Family Support -- You want to be able to help your child navigate the iPad, find assignments, submit homework and communicate with teachers outside the classroom. Attend a Family Support session to learn these things and more. Register for a Family Support session now.

Note that the prepared information presented at Family Support sessions will be available in print and/or video format, too. However, these sessions give you the opportunity to ask questions and delve into specific topics.

Calendar
