Its All About

Making a

Positive Impact

on our Region

Greetings!

THE FIBER IS COMING! THE FIBER IS COMING!

On Monday Night, October 7th the Nebraska City, City Council voted unanimously to approve the Broadband committee's recommendation to accept the proposal submitted by Spiral Communications of Glenwood, IA to provide broadband services to the City.   This franchise agreement sets the groundwork for the citizens of Nebraska City to have access to another provider offering faster service.

Spiral will conduct a phased in approach as they work to blanket the entire city with high speed service.  A special feature of their agreement is a 'mesh' of 30 minute free service in the downtown area that will enable visitors to access the web to learn about the current events and what's happening in Nebraska City.

We're excited about the new possibilities that this feature will open up for Nebraska City!

Just to show you how the States are lagging behind our European counter parts ,check this out. Wonder if they would need to obtain FAA clearance for this one?

Manufacturers 3D Printing

A few months back I shared that 3D printing was going to revolutionize American Manufacturing. They have a name for the process: Additive Manufacturing. It is now used not only in plastic components but metals as well. In this year's Paris Air Show it was demonstrated how they are using it in the production of aircraft parts. While the use in industry is currently limited, it is becoming more widespread in industrial applications.  Click to view this 3D printing article.
