Attitude Determines Altitude:

Optimism is about believing in success.  It s about having confidence that seemingly insurmountable obsticles can in fact be overcome.  This allows a community to capitalize on opportunties by taking appropriate risks.  It helps focus a community on the creation of an even brighter tomorrow by building on current success.  It also allows a busines to overcome seemingly impossible challenges and become an even more effective global competitor.

Watch as 12 year old Adora Suitak's TED Talk "Otimism is a State of Mind" makes a compelling case that thinking like a child with a focus on possibilities rather than limitations is key to success.  You will be amazed!!

From the Director:

Exciting news from Nebraska City Area Economic Development about our oldest industrial site.  Also be sure to check out the article below on the An Enchanted Arboritum unveiling April 20th in downtown Nebraska City.

RFR Final Sold sign

Red Fox Run, Industrial Site has been owned by the NCAEDC since the early 70's and on March 15th, 2013 NCAEDC completed the sale of the property to New Tech Properties, LLC.  Owner Jack Olson, purchased the property to expand New Tech Construction's operation in Nebraska City. New Tech Construction has been a  part of the Nebraska City business landscape for many years and we are excited about this expansion of one of our own businesses! This transaction preserves the remaining few acres for the existing soccer fields.

We are glad we could assist our existing businesses with a place to expand and grow their business. This leaves our 30 acre North Industrial Site for future business development.

Providing Job Opportunities

for our Graduates

Peru Job Fair

On March 19th, 2013 Carla Rhudd from Falls City EDGE and Patty Schwab from Nebraska City Area Economic Development Corp. attended the Peru State College Job Fair on the PSC campus. They represented our southeast region and spoke to several job seekers encouraging them to check out the many employment opportunities available right here in Southeast Nebraska.   The Southeast Nebraska Partners for Progress (SENP4P)  is an organization made up of economic developers and individuals in the five county region in Southeast Nebraska comprised of, Otoe, Johnson, Nemaha, Pawnee, and Richardson Counties.

Brochures were handed out which provided the top employers' contact information and corresponding websites in the five county area.  The brochure also lists the SoutheastNebraska.org website with information that leads them to the employment opportunities section that shows current job openings in the Southeast Nebraska area as well as businesses for sale.

"Providing career information and encouraging our kids to stay right here in their hometown after graduation is vital to our economic strength" said Ms. Schwab.  "I always enjoy seeing the faces on the kids when I ask them, "if  there was a job available for you, would stay in Southeast Nebraska after graduation?" They usually say "yes they would  if jobs were available".  So providing them with the information and tools they need to make that happen is  essential", said  Ms. Schwab.    Career Fairs are a good place for the economic development organizations to collect resumes and  refer job seekers to employers in Otoe County.  Helping to find skilled employees for our employers and helping our educated kids stay right here in Southeast Nebraska is an NCAEDC priority!
