Its All About

Making a

Positive Impact

on our Region

Greetings!
In an effort to improve communications with our partners, colleagues and residents, we publish this brief, monthly eNewslwtter.  If you have comments, questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact our office.  We value your input.

Holiday Greetings to each of you from NCAEDC!

At this time of year we look back to count our blessings and are thankful for the positive things that have happened over the past year and look forward with great anticipation to the New Year and new opportunities that await us.

While the east coast has suffered the brunt of Hurricane Sandy and are still dealing with the aftermath, several Otoe County businesses are working hard to supply products to support the effected areas ravaged infrastructures.   One such company working diligently to help meet the infrastructure needs on the east coast is R.E.M .Electric, Inc. of Nebraska City.  R.E.M. sells refurbished circuits and relays used in electrical power supply. They are seeing increased interest because they can provide the parts quicker and more cost effectively than the sourcing of new parts by the power companies.

Wishing you a profitable New Year!

"Innovation is the Process of Turning

 Ideas into Value"

(Author Unknown)

Oh so true.  This month's highlight is on a new manufactured product:  Winn Rack's new Winnrackcustomized heavy duty work benches.  Winn Rack(www.winnrack.com
is known for their customized pallet racking.  They have now gained a new market niche with these  heavy-duty

work benches. They are such a sought after item right now that the company is looking for more employees to be able to fill new orders.

Started out of Dunbar, Nebraska, Winn Rack continues to grow and add new products in a niche market.

It's Great to have Winn Rack in Otoe County!

Internships at Work

First, on behalf of our Southeast Partners for Progress (SENP4P), I would like to thank Dr. Dan Hansen and Dr. Greg Seay of Peru State College for being great partners with our SENP4P group. SENP4P is a collaborative group comprised of representatives from the five counties of Johnson, Nemaha, Pawnee, Richardson and Otoe. Through Dr. Hanson and Dr. Seay's efforts, SEP4P was able to connect with a Peru State College student willing to take an internship position to research Niobium in Southeast Nebraska. This has been a very positive internship experience with Karen Sorensens (our intern), as she researched and prepared her paper and gavr her final oral report on Tuesday, November 27th. Karen's research is helping educate us about niobium, the processes and its uses.

Southeast Partners for Progress meet on a quarterly basis to look at how we can join together to further the economic vitality of our corner of the state. Collectively, we promote economic opportunities in Southeast Nebraska, including job opportunities in SE NE at job fairs, on our website and promote Southeast Nebraska as a great place to live while reaching out to alums to encourage them to return to SE Nebraska.

If you are interested in becoming part of this group of forward thinking individuals, feel free to join us at our next meeting on February 26, 2013, 5:30p.m. at City Hall in Auburn.

Thank you again Dr. Hansen for being an important partner for Southeast Nebraska!
