Spring / Summer 2013 Book Highlights

Congratulations! 

 

Wade Zahares had a solo show entitled Interpreting the World Through Pastel at Lyndon State College's Quimby Gallery in Lyndonville, VT. The show ran from February 22 until March 20.

 

Wade's work was also part of Maine Art's invitational show, Maine As They See It, from July 27 to August 8 in Kennebunkport, ME.

 

Wade is curating and showing his work in an exhibit called Spark! at River Tree Arts in Kennebunk, ME, from August 23 to October 5. The show features the private collection of and work by Dahlov Ipcar, as well as work by fellow Maine illustrators Cathryn Falwell, Hazel Mitchell, Chris van Dusen, and Matt Tavares.

 

Anna Vojtech had a show of her paintings with her husband Roland Cornelis' sculptures in 43 Years of Creative Symbiosis at the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck in Gloucester, MA, from March 21 to March 31.

 

In May, Fahimeh Amiri had artwork displayed during the Springville Museum of Art's Annual Art Ball in Springville, Utah.

 

Salley Mavor's handiwork was part of the exhibit The Fairy Houses of BeeBe Woods at historic Highfield Hall in Falmouth, MA, from June 20 to July 21. The outdoor exhibit featured fairy houses and habitats made by 23 local artists. You can see a preview of some of the houses on Salley's blog, weefolkstudio.com.

 

In addition, work from Salley's Pocketful of Posies (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) continues to travel around the country and is showing at the  Plymouth Antiquarian Society's Hedge House Museum in Plymouth, MA, from June 2 to August 31. Past and future venues of the show can be found here.

 

Holly Berry will have a joint exhibition of her work at the Hole in the Wall Gallery in Raymond, ME, from August 17 to September 23. 

 

Paintings by Eva Montanari will be exhibited with the Associazione Rrose SÚlavy in Ferrara, Italy, from August 24 to September 21. Eva won a Special Prize from the Nami Island International Illustration Concours earlier this year.

 

Out of This World (Random House), written by Amy E. Sklansky, has been nominated for Utah's 2013-2014 Beehive Book Award.

 

Dig In! (Abrams Appleseed), written by April Jones Prince and illustrated by Michelle Berg, was selected by Amazon editors as a Best New Board BookDig In! and its companion Dive In! are both Parent's Choice Fun Stuff Award Winners.

 

Finally, several Studio books were chosen as 2013 Best Children's Books of the Year by Bank Street College's Childrens Book Committee:

  • Stuey Lewis Against All Odds: Stories From the Third Grade (FSG), illustrated by Cambria Evans
