Pelikan manufactures writing instruments of the highest quality in materials and workmanship. Occasionally, a warranty repair is needed. To properly repair writing instruments that are covered by the Pelikan warranty and return them to their owners as quickly as possible, we are requesting that you implement the following procedures, if you are not already doing so.
- At the time of sale, please advise each customer that they must retain their dated receipt of purchase with the pen, for any warranty issue that might arise. Warranty repairs will not be completed without this proof of purchase.
- Pen dealers should stamp the date of purchase on the warranty card, sign it, and add the store name, dealer's stamp, seal or sticker, as well as the pen's model number. Please add the full name of customer/pen owner/recipient, if possible. This card will serve as an additional proof of purchase, if the original receipt is unavailable.
- Before a writing instrument can be sent to Chartpak, (for warranty or non-warranty service), the Pen Repair Department must first approve the item and issue a PRA # (Pen Repair Authorization number).
- After an item is received at Chartpak, decisions on whether a repair is covered by the Pelikan warranty will be determined by the Pen Repair Department. A department representative will telephone or email the writing instrument owner to determine coverage.
- If a writing instrument is over three years old or is determined to be out of warranty, the pen owner may still have the writing instrument repaired or parts replaced, providing spare parts are available. The current Pelikan Warranty Policy states:
- A lifetime warranty on Limited Edition writing instruments, pertaining to the original owner.
- A three (3) year warranty from date of purchase on all premium and elegant writing instruments, pertaining to the original owner.
This warranty covers all material and manufacturer's defects. However, the warranty is rendered invalid in the case of (a) improper use and incorrect maintenance of writing instruments, (b) normal wear and tear, (c) manipulation by third parties or parts fitted by a third party and damages arising from the fittings of such parties, (d) loss.
