Good News

More than 100 walkers participated in the Fontbonne Academy Breast Cancer Walk for the Ellie Fund on Sunday, September 29.  The walk was organized by seniors Erin Cawley and Collette O'Connor as part of their senior Social Justice Project. Fontbonne raised over $3,000 (and is still counting the online donations).  Rachel Seigen, Director of Development for the Ellie Fund, a local organization that raises funds for breast cancer patients, wrote in gratitude for the "overwhelming support of the Fontbonne community."  Thank you to Mrs. Denning and Ms. Katchpole for helping Erin and Collette with such a worthwhile event.  Many thanks to all who participated.

The foyer and the library were abuzz with conversation and excitement on Tuesday, October 1.  The annual Activities Fair was held for our new students.  The Activities Fair gave our freshwomen and transfer students an opportunity to see what clubs and sports are offered at Fontbonne.  Students were available from each activity to answer questions.  Thank you to seniors Katie Comber, Kay Green, and Mary Beth Stravin for planning and organizing the fair.

After the Activities Fair concluded, the freshwomen and seniors gathered in the auditorium to begin the Big Sister/Little Sister event.  The seniors and freshwomen were paired as "Fontbonne sisters" and then headed outside for a series of competitions and games.  The afternoon concluded with a light pizza supper and a chance to get to know each other.  Thank you to Student Council and their moderator, Ms. Leonard, for sponsoring such a fun-filled day.

Sophomore Claire Lyons represented Fontbonne Academy at the Catholic Schools Foundation Golf Tournament Dinner at Wollaston County Club on Monday, September 30.  The Catholic School Foundation generously donates to Fontbonne and other Catholic schools in the area.  Claire spoke to the donors about what a Fontbonne education has meant to her.  Thank you to Claire for representing Fontbonne so well at this significant event.

Mr. Anderson, a member of Fontbonne's Fine Arts Department, presented An Evening of Contemporary Chamber Music at Regis College on Friday evening, October 4.  This performance marked the world premier of his original musical compositions.  Mr. Anderson is the Director of Fontbonne's Instrumental Ensemble and Regis College's Instrumental Ensemble.  Congratulations to Mr. Anderson.
