From the Library

Think you can match Fontbonne adults with their favorite books?

April is School Library Month, so we asked the adults at Fontbonne, "What's your favorite book?" During this first week of April, see if you can match up each Fontbonne adult with his/her favorite. Grab a handout from fbalibraryupdate.blogspot.com, make your guesses, and get them to us by April 5. We'll announce the correct answers April 8. And what's your own favorite book? Tell us on the Library's dry-erase board in the foyer. We'll have new games for the weeks beginning April 8 and April 22.

From the Office of Mission and Ministry

Happy Easter!

As we begin this season of hope and resurrection, we conclude our Lenten Giving Project. Monday, April 1, and Tuesday, April 2, will be the last days to donate to Heifer International.  We have chosen to direct this money towards a specific project known as REACH, Rural Entrepreneurs for Agricultural Cooperation, in Haiti. Heifer's REACH project will help more than 100,000 people overall, the largest animal project of its kind in Haiti's history. Heifer International is committed to this project because it will help more people help themselves and speed the end of hunger and poverty. Students may donate during lunches or bring their donation directly to the Office of Mission and Ministry.

Anti-Trafficking Symposium Sponsors "Soul Cry"

The sixth annual symposium sponsored by the Boston Anti-Trafficking Coaling of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious will take place at Fontbonne Academy on Saturday, April 6, from 12:30 - 4 p.m.  A major part of this event will be the Accendo Dance Company's Presentation of "Soul Cry" based on a true story of sex trafficking as reported by Nicholas Kristoff in his Pulitzer Prize winning book, "Half the Sky." All are invited to attend. There is no cost, but please register by calling 617-746-2028. Students who are planning to attend should also let Ms. Denning in the Office of Mission and Ministry know that they will be attending. For more information visit www.csjboston.org

From the Evening of Stars Committee

Thank You!

Evening of Stars 2013 was a resounding success! The crowd sampled delicious hors d'ouevres and mingled as they perused a variety of Silent Auction items. The presentation of the Stellar Awards to Ellen Sullivan and the Athletics, Health & Wellness Department and Catherine Hayes '78 was met with enthusiastic applause, and the evening concluded with a spirited Live Auction. The committee would like to thank parents for their enthusiastic support of this event. We also thank the members of the Learning Community who generously lent their time and effort, and the student volunteers who gave up their Saturday night to support their school and who were outstanding representatives of Fontbonne Academy. Thank you to everyone for coming out to support Fontbonne!

Good News

The week of March 18, in the spirit of March Madness, students and adults were challenged by the Wellness Center to compete against each other in the arena of nutrition intelligence. Congratulations to 3-point Nutrition Shoot Out winners, Caroline Brady and Kathryn Meschino, who will be served lunch by Mrs. Cerasuolo and Ms. Barnes one day this week. Answers to all three rounds of the 3-Point Nutrition Shoot Out were posted outside the Wellness Center to raise everyone's awareness. Thank you to all those who participated and to Mrs. McPhillips for organizing an engaging way to learn about good nutrition.

Social Justice Fair, showcasing the Theology 4 social justice projects of the Class of 2013, was held Holy Thursday, March 28. The day began and ended with community prayer in the auditorium. Throughout the morning, every senior was able to share her work and teach both students and adults about her chosen issue. Thank you to teachers Mr. Waters and Mr. Wessman who helped their students prepare during the year and to Mrs. Denning who prepared the prayer services and assisted with the organization of the day.
