Good News
Thank you to the junior and senior members of the National Honor Society (NHS) for providing snacks and water for the guests of the musical over the past two weekends. The homemade snacks and desserts were great treats and the proceeds from the sale will help defray the expenses of the AP exams. Thank you to the officers of NHS, their moderator, Mrs. Herbert, and the AP teachers for organizing and overseeing the sale for each show.
Special thanks to the parents of the cast and crew of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat for helping out in so many ways during the shows. Whether helping with costumes, ticket sales, set construction or providing food and snacks, the parents were very instrumental in the success of the musical. Some parents have been involved in every one of their daughters' shows. Fontbonne truly appreciates their energy and effort on behalf of our students.
Our annual fundraiser, Evening of Stars, was held on Saturday. Fontbonne students played a large part in the evening. The student ambassadors who helped in numerous ways, the junior artists who painted spectacular furniture pieces for the auction, and the young woman who "acted" for the special live auction items and the entire student body who generously gave to the "gift card tree" helped to assure the success of the event. Thank you to all of our students and to the adults who worked with them tirelessly especially Mrs. Miner, moderator of the Student Ambassadors and to Mrs. Terese Robinson, mother of senior Kirsten Robinson, who oversaw all of the student volunteers.
Freezing temperatures and a little snow did not stop our student athletes and their coaches this week. Tryouts began on Monday, March 18, and by the end of the week teams were selected for our Softball, Lacrosse, and Track programs. Please check the Fontbonne website for upcoming games and meets. Good luck to all.
Thank you to Mrs. Spignesi, Director of Guidance and guidance counselors, Mrs. Lamb and Mrs. Libby, for organizing an evening of college planning for parents of freshwomen and sophomores. Held on Tuesday evening, Grades Are Not Enough, provided parents with information about the college planning process. The common application, SATs, college interviews and financial aid were all covered during this workshop.
Julie Sullivan, sophomore at Ithaca College and 2011 graduate of Fontbonne, took time out during her Spring Break to film a trailer at Fontbonne for a proposed Ithaca College television show. Several members of the Good Fountain Players participated and were featured in the shoot. The show, titled Staged, is a musical that follows a girl writing her own show. Julie hopes it will be picked up for the fall season at Ithaca and is grateful that her "alma mater" was so gracious and supportive. Thank you to Mr. Emma for overseeing this project.
