Good News

Seventeen Fontbonne students attended a Model U.N. Conference held at Boston College High on Saturday, March 2. Three hundred and seventy students from all over New England participated. Seniors Julia Butts and Maretta Morovitz won Best Delegate Awards and senior Tammy Chen won a Best Position Paper Award. Thank you to moderator, Ms. Pilla, for preparing our delegates and senior parents, Mr. and Mrs. Moran and Mrs. Morovitz for chaperoning the event.

Fontbonne recognized Massachusetts Foreign Language Week with prayer each day in different languages. Students from our World Language classes led the community in prayer each morning. Eleven different languages were spoken over the week. On Thursday, March 7, students from the French Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society and the International Culture Club adorned their uniform skirt with tee shirts celebrating cultures from around the world. Thank you to Mrs. Herbert and Mrs. Linardi for planning the activities.

The juniors ended their month long celebration on Friday, March 1, with a pizza lunch in the foyer. At lunch, the Class of 2014, clad in their class sweatshirts, enjoyed cupcakes and congratulated Room 206 as the winner of the homeroom competitions. Thank you to the junior Student Council representatives who planned the level activities and to Mrs. McKenna, mother of junior representative, Morgan, for providing the dessert. It was a fun month!

As the winter season closes, Fontbonne recognizes the senior athletes and their leadership on and off the court. Congratulations and thank you to senior Indoor Track athletes, Roisin Henry and Kelsey Laforest; senior Hockey athletes, Kelly Downey, Erin Ferrara, Mary Kelly, and McKenna Russell and to senior Basketball athletes, Georgia Bourikas, Caroline Cabral, Jen Gemma, and Rebecca Simmons. Thank you also to their coaches and to our Athletic Director, Mrs. Sullivan.

The spring musical, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," opened on this weekend to a packed house and thunderous applause. The musical numbers and the choreography were "amazing." Led by eleven senior cast members and eleven senior crew members, the show boasted one of our largest casts and crew in recent history.   Thank you to Director, Mr. Emma, Musical Director, Mrs. Fortier and accompanist, Mr. Anderson. The show will be presented again next weekend (Friday, March 15, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 16, at 2 p.m.). Don't miss it!!!
