Parents Needed!

Do you have technology skills you are willing to share with our newly formed Student Tech Team?  We are seeking parents who are willing to share their skills with our Team who will be actively assisting students and the Learning Community with various technology issues throughout the school year.  Ideas for training topics range from troubleshooting, computer maintenance, to internet safety, but the sky's the limit!  Please contact Ms. Schein if you are interested at [email protected].

From the Evening of Stars Planning Committee

Kickoff Meeting

The Evening of Stars 2013 Committee will be hosting an informal informational gathering on Tuesday, January 15, at 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Evening of Stars, Fontbonne's foremost fundraising event, will be held on Saturday, March 23, at Lombardo's in Randolph.

At the gathering, committee chairpersons and members will be on hand to answer questions regarding the event, and sign-up sheets will be available for parents who wish to join a committee. The informational gathering will be a great opportunity to socialize with other parents and find out more about this gala event filled with great food, auctions, entertainment and more.  Please contact Evening of Stars Chairperson, Maryclare Himmel P'13, at [email protected] with any questions.

Alumnae Ice Hockey Game

Alums from past Fontbonne Academy Ice Hockey teams were coached to victory by current coach Bob Huxley as they defeated our 2012/2013 Ice Hockey team 6-4 at Shea Rink over the holiday break.  A great tradition has been started and we hope to host this Ice Hockey Alumnae Game each year.

Congratulations to sophomores Krista Laforest and Caitlyn Hansbury, winners of the 2012 Christmas MissFIT Challenge! Each girl received a $15 iTunes gift card.

Good News

The annual Christmas Concert was held December 16. Many spectators came to enjoy the performances of Instrumental Ensemble, Jazz Choir, Select Chorus, Alumnae Chorus, and a number of soloists. Thank you to Mr. Doug Anderson and Mrs. Carol Fortier for their untiring efforts to bring out the best in our talented musicians and singers.

As part of the celebration of Sophomore month, during the week of December 10, the Class of 2015 dressed up thematically: Monday - Christmas Apparel; Tuesday - Sport Team Clothing; Wednesday - "It is Wednesday, we wear pink"; and Thursday - Crazy Hats.  Each student, who wore the designated clothing, earned a point for her homeroom.  Rm. 103 won the contest with 75 points for the week. On Friday Dec. 14, sophomore homeroom decorating was judged by adult members of the LC.  Each homeroom chose a theme to inspire their decorations.  Rm. 102 won for "Welcome to Paradise," complete with ocean waves and a beach volleyball net across the entire room. On Tuesday December 18, the sophomores celebrated "their" month with a pizza and ice cream lunch in the foyer wearing their "Class of 2015" sweat pants.

Congratulations to senior Caitlin Walsh who conducted the Boston Pops, performing "Sleigh Ride" at their concert on Sunday, December 16. Caitlin serves on the Boston Symphony Teen Council, a select group of teens who apply, interview, and then are chosen to advocate for classical music throughout their communities, as well as make the symphony more accessible to teens. Caitlin was designated as the Council's choice for guest conductor. She received a baton signed by Keith Lockhart to remember the occasion.

Congratulations to Christina Whalen '13 who will be representing Fontbonne Academy at the All-State Music Festival and Conference in February 2013.
