Congratulations to juniors Madison Devine and Megan Shea who were named to the League All-Star Volleyball Team.
Congratulations to senior, Colleen MacDonald, who was chosen as Fontbonne's representative to the Massachusetts Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Program. This national program recognizes seniors who are outstanding in character and who exhibit qualities of "Good Citizenship" The faculty nominates students who best exemplify the outstanding qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. From these nominations, the seniors chose Colleen.
On Wednesday, December 5, the freshwomen chose their representatives to Student Council for school year 2012-2013. Thirteen ninth grade students superbly addressed their classmates in the auditorium and confidently answered questions from their peers before the class voted. Congratulations to the following students who were chosen StuCo reps: Laurie Brutus, Dominque Ellison, Reilly Hayes, Hanna Heffler, Erin Leonard, Lauren Riley, Nicole Ringuet, and Abigail Walsh.
The office of Mission and Ministry sponsored a "giving tree" to help make a number of local children's Christmas a brighter one. Students and adults chose a tag (which listed the age and sex of the child) from the giving tree. The community members then chose an appropriate gift. The gifts were collected and brought to the Milton Residents Fund to be distributed to the children. Thank you to all who participated.
Once again, the Fontbonne Academy community not only met the goal of the Student Holiday Card Drive but exceeded it. The students raised over $48,000 (and still counting) and also reached their goal of 100% student participation. Thank you to everyone who supported this student' fundraiser. Special thanks to our Director of Mission and Ministry, Mrs. Denning, who organized and implemented this drive.
On Saturday afternoon, December 8, the Fontbonne Academy Select Chorus and Jazz Choir joined the Boston College High School Chorus in presenting a Holiday Concert at Boston College High. Beautiful seasonal music filled the B.C. High auditorium. Thank you to Mrs. Fortier and to the chorus students for providing such a beautiful beginning to the Christmas season.
On Tuesday afternoon, December 11, Student Council sponsored a gingerbread cookie decorating event for the seniors and their "little sisters." The students decorated their cookies, shared hot cocoa and listened to Christmas music in the foyer. Thank you to Student Council moderator, Ms. Leonard, and the StuCo members for providing such a fun afternoon.
The Peer Mentors hosted a Cookie Swap during lunch for the freshwomen on Thursday, December 13. Each ninth grader was asked to bring a dozen cookies to share during lunch and at home. The Peer Mentors provided holiday music and candy canes during lunch. Thank you to the Peer Mentors for providing the opportunity for the ninth graders to have lunch together and for organizing the "swap."
