THIRTY SECOND ACTION

Statewide Day of Action to Increase Bike Funding

Next Wednesday more than 100 advocates will converge on Sacramento to ask state leaders to fund real transportation choices. We'll deliver a petition to show the widespread support for complete bicycle networks, public transit, walking, biking, and affordable housing near transit.

YOUR BICYCLE COALITION AT WORK

Cycletrack bill at the Judiciary Committee on Wednesday

AB 1193 (Ting) has its first hearing on Wednesday April 24. The bill would ensure that local agencies are able to develop the kinds of protected bikeway we know are necessary to transform our state and triple the amount of bicycling in California by 2020. Passage of the bill will usher in a new era of bikeway development. You can register your support by sending an email to the Committee consultant, Misa Yokoi-Shelton. You can join in on the fun by logging your miles either on your own or with a team using any of a number of bike challenges, depending on where you are. Check your local bike group for the challenge in your area, or join the California section of the National Bike Challenge. Also, check out our bike commuting resources

Every Lane is a Bike Lane in Los Angeles

Los Angeles Metro has produced some of the best safety share-the-road promotions we've seen in a long time. Check out their unambiguous "Every Lane is a Bike Lane" campaign!

Be a Video Star -- Record a Traffic Safety Testimonial

We're working with the Traffic Safety Coalition to support a reform to the red light camera enforcement program. AB 666 (Wieckowski) would reduce the fines and make other changes to make it easier for communities to install the cameras. Red light cameras reduce fatal red light running crashes by 50% and bicycle riders, as you know, are the most vulnerable.

Do you have a traffic safety testimonial to tell? Record a video and get your story online!
