Summer 2016 Newsletter - Issue #45

Most of the year thus far, my focus has been on recovering from a mold exposure that retriggered my inflammation at the end of last year.

Fortunately, I'm doing much better.  In fact, so much so, that my doctor "graduated" me from mold treatment.  I will, of course, continue to monitor things closely over time, but it never ceases to amaze me how critical avoidance of mold is for optimizing health.

If I could ask one thing of you, it would be to be certain that you have not missed mold as a part of the puzzle of your chronic illness.  Explore it from every angle before you rule it out.  It is just that serious.

Be optimistic....and be hopeful!

Ryde For Lyme Fundraiser
Ryde for Lyme is here!  This is one of two major LymeLight fundraisers each year to raise funds for treatment grants for children and young adults with Lyme.

I'm honored to be a part of the LymeLight team and would very much appreciate any support you might be able to provide.

Please help me help children and young adults with Lyme access medical treatment.  Every dollar counts and every dollar makes a difference.

Mold & Mycotoxins: Current Evaluation and Treatment 2016
Dr. Neil Nathan is one of my heroes in the treatment of complex, chronic disease.  I had the opportunity to write an article with him on 2014 on the topic of mold and mycotoxin illness which can be found here.

Very recently, Dr. Nathan released a superb eBook titled Mold & Mycotoxins: Current Evaluation and Treatment 2016.  It is a very detailed, well-written book on the topic of mold illness.  It is the very latest information on this continually-evolving topic.  Dr. Nathan blends the work of Dr. Shoemaker, Dr. Brewer, and his own into a very solid approach to recovering from mold illness.

Those with Lyme that are not responding as expected to treatment very commonly have a mold issue that needs to be considered.  Don't miss this key issue or you could prolong your illness for years.  Looking back after having had both Lyme and mold illness (twice), I think mold was a far bigger problem than Lyme ever was for me.

An Affirmation
My immune system supports my optimal health by reacting appropriately to both self and non-self within my being. My immune system's innate wisdom knows exactly how and when to respond in support of my ultimate well-being.

My immune system properly manages Lyme, Bartonella, Babesia, and any other microbe that may be within me. Removal of every pathogenic microbe is not a requirement to obtaining wellness.

My body upregulates its ability to remove toxins from my system. Molds, mycotoxins, chemicals, pesticides, heavy metals, and other toxins are identified and excreted from my being as they are not supporting my highest self. My liver, kidneys, lymphatics and other means of elimination are open and flowing.

My supplements, medications, and other nutrients support my body in a way that gives it more vitality and greater ability to self-regulate in a manner that creates ease within my being.

My genes do not tell the final story. Through my positive emotions, thoughts, nutrition, and joy, I influence the expression of my genes in a direction that is favorable and supportive of my ongoing recovery.

I express gratitude for those that have been a support on my journey and release those that are unable to understand.

I deeply know that I am deserving and worthy of wellness and every cell of my being resonates toward my highest good.

Healing is my given right and I manifest it now.

Note: The affirmation above is not intended to suggest that chronic illness is a state of mind or that medical treatment is not a part of the journey. Rather, it is intended to align the body in the direction of healing and to optimize overall outcome.

The Tick Factor Conference
"The Tick Factor" conference is just around the corner on September 17-18 in Amsterdam.  I am looking forward to the opportunity to attend this event.

Speakers include Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, Dr. Joe Burrascano, Dr. Ann Corson, Dr. Armin Schwarzbach, Dr. Ginger Savely, and many other great practitioners.

The schedule and registration details are now available on the web site.
I hope to see you there.

Dr. Klinghardt: 2016 Conference Notes
In June, I had the opportunity to attend an event taught by Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt in Seattle.

As always, these events do not disappoint.  Dr. Klinghardt shared the latest and greatest information on treating chronic illness with those attending this event.

I put together some notes on my takeaways from the event and have made these available on my blog.

Recipes for Repair
A new edition of Recipes for Repair just hit the bookshelves. I was fortunate to get a copy of this book and to be teased by all of the beautiful pictures. Now if only the food came pre-made.

The book is a fantastic tool for people with Lyme and other health challenges to implement food as medicine and combat chronic inflammation.

Diet is one key to improving health, and having a tool such as this at your fingertips is empowering. Now I just need to go make those brownies!

Naturopathic Insights to Help Manage Complicated Cases
Amy Derksen ND has been a mentor of mine for almost 11 years.  She is superbly gifted.

At AutismOne this year, she gave a lecture entitled "Naturopathic Insights to Help Manage Complicated Cases".

The video and presentation slides are both available and I highly recommend watching.  It's a fantastic talk.

Fx Vital
Fx Herbals recently created a product called Fx Vital which I have taken since it became available in April.  I like the product very much and have gotten good feedback from others using it as well.

The product contains:
Artemisia Annua, Japanese Knotweed, Whole Leaf Stevia, Cryptolepis, Cilantro, Curcumin, and Ginger in a phospholipid base.

Of course, discuss with your doctor before making any changes to your protocol.

ParaWellness Research and DNA Connexions
I recently blogged about two separate tests that I have found helpful.

1) ParaWellness Research - this is my favorite test for parasites.  They do testing on both stool and urine and often find evidence of parasites; unlike most other parasite tests.

2) DNA Connexions - this is an emerging lab for Lyme and coinfections that does PCR testing on a urine sample and looks for Borrelia, Bartonella, Babesia, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma from a single sample.

IonCleanse by AMD Detox Foot Bath
I was introduced to the concept of detox footbaths around 2007 and owned a competing footbath since then. It had fallen off my list of things I regularly did until recently.

Much of what convinced me to go with this option has been the improvements that numerous children with autism have reported with the IonCleanse by AMD. I had thought about getting one for awhile, and I finally decided to take the plunge (so to speak). I traded in the one I had purchased previously and upgraded to the IonCleanse by AMD.

I'm glad I did and have used it regularly for a few months now.  They have a 60-day money-back guarantee to boot; soak on that!

Recent Radio Shows and Podcasts
Information about Lyme disease and recovering from chronic illness seems to be growing exponentially.  I'm so excited that we have several excellent sources of valuable information available.  Here are a few of the recent radio shows and podcasts that may be worth listening to.  To listen, click the orange links below.

Hydrate for Health with CHIAMAKA
Several month ago, I attended a local health expo.  There were dozens of vendors with the latest products.  I spent a few hours and walked out having purchased one product.  That product was CHIAMAKA.

The product is to help hair, skin, and nails, but that isn't what impressed me about it.  What caught my eye was how the product shifted water from outside the cell to inside the cell with what is known as ICW (intracellular water) on a BIA test.  It also showed positive effects based on heart-rate variability (HRV) testing.

So many with chronic illness are chronically dehydrated. If every cell in the body is better hydrated, that gets my attention far beyond the potential cosmetic benefits that people report; though, those are nice too!

Empower Yourself with Summits!
There have been so many amazing and informative summits online already this year that I finally put a page together that has some of the ones I have found of interest.

As I understand, some of the biggest summits have been on the topic of essential oils and Essential Oils Revolution 2 is just around the corner.

These events are FREE and ONLINE for all to benefit.
