Spring 2016 Newsletter - Issue #43
|
The last several months have been interesting ones. Towards the end of 2015, I was feeling off; I knew something wasn't right. My inflammation level had increased, and I was looking for answers. Quite honestly, I didn't feel like it was "Lyme", and it wasn't.
I did a repeat RealTime Labs Urinary Mycotoxin test and found very high levels of ochratoxin A. While I know that some people debate the usefulness of this form of testing, my levels 2 years earlier were 0 for ochratoxin A and were now over 5.
Fortunately, I identified what appears to be the smoking gun. I was once again struggling with the challenges of mold illness. It wasn't the first time, and given my HLA DR susceptibilities, it may not be the last.
The good news was the exposure was not coming from my living environment, and I was able to take steps to remove myself from what appears to have been the primary source of exposure. I've been working with my practitioners for a few months to go through the various steps often required to recover from mold exposure in a susceptible individual.
I cannot stress how important it is for those with Lyme that are still struggling to explore mold. It is almost always a factor when people aren't responding to treatment in my experience; especially if your HLA-DR results are mold or multi-susceptible. When mold is left unexplored, the chances of regaining health are often limited.
In fact, I would go as far as to say that when mold is a factor (again, not uncommon), it is probably more significant than Lyme for many people. It simply cannot be ignored.
The good news is that I am back on track now, and while I am still focused on treating the mold issues, I am already seeing some very clear progress.
Be optimistic....and explore broadly!

Chronic Lyme Disease Summit

Some of the speakers include Dr. Richard Horowitz, Dr. Kenneth Stoller, Dr. Jason West, Dr. Kevin Conners, Dr. Raj Patel, Dr. Nikolas Hedberg, Dr. Lee Cowden, and many more. I'm honored to be one of the speakers at this event as well.
Daily speakers will be available online to watch for free, and the entire event recordings can be purchased for as low as $49 to listen to whenever suits your schedule best. I hope you enjoy this event; I can't wait! If you are connected in the community and want to share this event, you can even earn a little money yourself by becoming an affiliate.

LDI - Low Dose Immunotherapy
|
One of the more exciting therapies to emerge for Lyme disease and coinfections in the past couple of years is LDI - low dose immunotherapy.
While the potential application goes far beyond Lyme, having a way to build immune tolerance of Lyme-related microbes is proving to be a powerful option for many. Nothing works for everyone, but I think LDI has taken a top position among emerging treatment options.
I recently wrote a blog about LDI which you can find here.

I have worked with the LymeLight Foundation for the last few years and love the work the Foundation does to support children and young adults with Lyme.

The first event is right around the corner. Dart for Art is April 8, 2016. Come join us for some amazing fun and all for a great cause. Learn More

Then, it won't be long until Ryde for Lyme is here. Ryde for Lyme is August 6, 2016, and I am hoping to raise at least $2500 for this event. More would be an even bigger blessing for those that benefit from the foundation's work. Learn More

Embrace The Grace Support For Lyme
|
My younger brother has had unexplained health challenges for many years. He was just diagnosed with Lyme disease and has a long road ahead.
He put together these "Embrace The Grace" T-Shirts to help support his medical costs.
Here are a few words from my brother: "Since I have had so many people ask me how they can help, and since I am terrible at accepting charity or handouts.....I have decided to sell these shirts. Proceeds will go directly to offset the costs of medicines to treat my Lyme disease. Thanks to you all whether you purchase a shirt or not. The calls, messages and prayers have been very much appreciated. Feel free to share!"

I'm very excited about this new Lyme test from DNA Connexions. I first learned about it from Dr. Klinghardt, and he shared it recently at a chronic illness conference.
I have a couple of coaching clients that have shared their result with me, and I have to say I am impressed with what I have seen. Of course, it is still early and time always bring clarity, but I do think this has real promise.
Borrelia, Bartonella, Babesia, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma are all part of the Lyme panel. With a cost of $425 as of March 2016, this appears to be a very reasonably priced option.
I think it is definitely worth exploring further.

I am honored to be among the speakers for the upcoming Chronic Wellness Summit which will take place online in early May.
Other speakers include Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, Dr. Christine Schaffner, Dana Walsh, Ben Greenfield, Dr. Terry Wahls, Dr. Alireza Panaphour, and more.
It is such a blessing to be able to share information in these online summits, and I can't wait to learn more from this exciting event which will occur May 2-13, 2016.

I very much appreciate those of you that support my work. I know that treating Lyme is expensive, and I am grateful for your support.
The costs of operating the site and attending the various events that provide its content add up. Your help makes it possible.
If you are interested in supporting my work, you can do a one-time donation or a smaller recurring monthly donation such as $1/month.
