Vision statement
|
Jesus in Love supports lesbian, gay, bi trans and queer (LGBTQ) spirituality, with an emphasis on art and literature. It promotes artistic and religious freedom and teaches love for all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. It is based on these beliefs: God loves all people, including sexual minorities. The creative process is sacred. The queer visions, especially the gay Jesus and LGBT saints, will free people to experience the divine in new ways and lead to a more just world.
Jesus in Love was founded by lesbian Christian author Kittredge Cherry as her personal gift to the world.

Queer art pilgrimage honors codebreaker
Alan Turing is a gay icon, pioneering computer scientist and wartime British codebreaker who is honored as a saint in new artwork by queer artist Tony O'Connell.
The artist made a photographic record of his recent trip to the Alan Turing Memorial in Manchester, England.
His journey serves simultaneously as pilgrimage, performance art and political statement. He decided to add Turing to his ongoing series of LGBT pilgrimages.
Turing's life story is also told in the new movie "The Imitation Game." Photos and more info

Passion book beats Facebook censorship
Facebook censored an ad for the new art book "The Passion of Christ: A Gay Vision," then backed down after pressure from the LGBT community and media.
The book shows Jesus as a gay man of today in a modern city. "A queer Passion is needed now because Christianity is being used to justify discrimination against LGBT people," said author Kittredge Cherry.
The image shown here, "Jesus Goes to His Execution" by Douglas Blanchard, is the one that Facebook said was too "shocking."

Dance of the 41 Queers remembered
One of the world's most notorious police raids on a queer gathering occurred 113 years ago in November 1901 when police arrested 41 men at a drag ball in Mexico City. The raid on the "Dance of the 41" caused a huge scandal with lasting repercussions against LGBT people. Today the Dance of the 41 is being reclaimed and reinterpreted by LGBT activists and scholars. All Saints Day: Why we need LGBT saints
LGBT saints are important because people are searching for alternative ways to lead loving lives. Churches have tried to control people by burying queer history. The LGBT saints show us not only THEIR place in history, but also OUR place. At first I thought that LGBT saints were rare. Gradually I came to see that they are everywhere.... Malachy: Same-sex soulmate to Bernard Malachy of Armagh is an 11th-century Irish saint who died in the arms of his more famous soulmate, St. Bernard of Clairvaux.
